    Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they can eat and others often forget to turn off the lights when they leave the classroom. They say they can afford these things. But I don't agree with them.

    Waste can bring a lot of problems. Although China is rich in some resources, we are short of others, for example, fresh water. It is reported that we will have no coal or oil to use in 100 years. So if we go on wasting our resources, what can we use in the future and where can we move? Think about it. I think we should say no to the students who waste things every day. Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.

    In our everyday life, we can do many things to prevent waste from happening, for example, turn off the water taps when we finish washing, turn off the lights when we leave the classroom, try not to order more food than we need, and so on. Little by little, everything will be changed. Waste can be stopped one day, if we do our best.

    Recently, Chongqing Three Gorges University has held an activity named “Cell Phone Ninja”(手 机忍者). They would like their students not to use cell phones for 21 days. It is really a challenge( 挑 战)for most students.

    The activity started on April 12. Each student who volunteered to take part in this activity got a bracelet(手环). If the students did not use their cell phones, there would be a photo on the screen of the bracelet to show that. If they used their cell phones, a different photo would appear on the screen of the bracelet. After the last class of each day, the students sent the photos to the school's public Wechat.

    More than 800 students wished to take part in this test, and 400 were chosen. After seven days, only 103 students remained. The test was set for 21 days because some scientists believe that 21 days is long enough to help people form a habit.

    According to the teachers in the university, the activity was not a competition. It depended on students themselves to make the decision. The teachers hoped their students could form better study habits through activities like this one.

⑵Living in another country can make you learn a language and about another culture. You will see the world differently and learn more about yourself. The experience of studying abroad may also look good on your future resume(求职简历) Many companies today want people who can speak a second language or have experienced living or working in another country. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

⑶Once you decide to study abroad, you have to make choices. To choose the right country or school, ask yourself: Where do I want to go and why? How much do I want to pay? How long do I want to study abroad? Do I want to live with roommates, alone or somewhere else? {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

⑷Get your passport and visa early. Before you go, learn some of the language and read about some common customs in the country that you are going to learn about the money. Bring some of it with you. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

⑸After the first few weeks abroad, many students will feel a little homesick. They may miss their families, friends and familiar ways of doing things. Remember that it takes time to get used to a new place, school and culture. When you feel sad or homesick, try to talk to others or write about your feelings in a notebook. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    Robert is a middle school boy from Australia. He is in Grade Seven. This term, he learns Chinese and he likes it very much. He wants to learn it well, so he finds a pen pal from Guangdong, China. His name is Yang Guang and he is a clever boy. He and Robert are in the same Grade. They both love playing football. They often chat with each other on the Internet. They have different school lives. Yang Guang is very busy every day. He gets up early and he has to stay at school for 8 hours every day and he has much homework to do after school. But Robert only stays at school for 5 hours and he often finishes his homework in just half an hour.

    There are many people helping to take care of others in every country. For example, some high school and college students in the United States often spend many hours as volunteers in hospitals, orphanages (孤儿院) or the old people's homes.

    They read books to the old people. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Other young volunteers go and work in the homes of people who are sick. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}For boys who don't have fathers, there is an organization called Big Brothers. College students take these boys to baseball games or take them to go on trips. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

    There are a number of clubs in some cities. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Some of these clubs show movies or organize short trips to the mountains, the beaches, the museums or other places of interest. Most of these clubs have a lot of high school and college students as volunteers because they're young enough to remember the problems of younger boys and girls.
