外研(新标准)版英语九年级下册Module6Unit2Knives and forks are used for most Western food同步测试

根据短文内容回答问题

Dear Mike,

      I'm so glad you're coming to China! Your mother,our foreign English teacher,told me you're worried about what you should and shouldn't do as a guest in China.Here's some advice.You will probably be invited to a big meal. You may find it earlier than you expect because Chinese people eat dinner much earlier than people in the West.There will be a lot of different dishes,not just three courses.You may find it difficult to use chopsticks if you haven't tried before.It's a good idea to get some practice.When the food is served,you should take time to look at it. The preparation takes a long time and everything will look beautiful.The plates will be placed in the middle of the table,for everyone to share.Take a little of everything and then have some more of the things you like.Chinese people like to talk about food,so it's a good topic of conversation.At the end of the meal,you will usually be served with fruit.Eat your fruit,thank your friends, and go.

      I hope this is helpful.E-mail me if you have any other questions.

                                                                                                                              Yours,

                                                                                                                                   David Zhang

①A tree has roots(根). People have roots too. If you get to the root of a problem, you will solve it. It's the same thing with words.

②As readers, especially those reading in a second language, we need to deal with the text as if we were detectives(侦探)looking for information to discover the unknown. Like any good detective arriving on the crime scene, the first thing to do when meeting a new and difficult word is to look at everything that is known and see if it helps us to

understand what it means.

③As you know, prefixes (前 缀) and suffixes(后缀) can be added to the beginning or end of words to change the meaning. Know them, and you will be able to build the word. But root words are the key. Take time to learn a few of these and remember them, and you will become good at guessing the meaning of words.

④Let's look at one common root word used in English. "Alter"from the Latin word means "other". When you meet this root word, you know that the bigger word has something to do with "other". Examine the word "alternate".Can you find the Latin root in it?

●If you and your friend like to eat out, first you pay and the other pays the next time. You are alternating paying.

●If you go to the movies on alternate Saturdays, you go on one Saturday, but not the other Saturday.

●If you have no alternative, you have no other choice.

⑤Learn as many root words as possible in the language you are studying. Then use your "rooting for words"skills, Like any new skill, practice and hard work are always paid back.

 阅读下面材料, 从方框中所给的A-E五个选项中选择正确的选项(其中有一项是多余选项),将其序号填入31-34题, 并回答第35题(注意词数限制)。

" How are you?" is a friendly greeting. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It often doesn't need an answer. The person who asks" How are you?" expec's to hear the answer "Finè" even if the person isn't fine. The reason is that " How are you?" isn't really a question and " Fine" isn't really an answer. They are common ways of saying " hello" or" hi".

 Sometimes, people don't say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks " Do you agree?", the other person may be thinking " No, I don't." It isn't polite to disagree strongly, so he might say," I'm not so sure." {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

 People also don't say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking to other people. For example, many conversations over the phone end when one person says," I've got to go now," or the person who wants to hang up gives an excuse such as " Someone is at the door." {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the person who wants to hang up simply doesn't want to talk any more, but it isn't polite to say so. An excuse doesn't hurt the other person's feelings.

Whether they are greeting each other or ending a conversation, people often don't say exactly what they are thinking. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

A. The excuse may be real, or not.

B. If you disagree with others, they will hate you.

C. However, " How are you?" is also an unusual question.

D. This is a nice way to say that you don't agree with someone.

E This is one way of being nice to people, and it's a part of the game of language.

According to the text, what might a person say when he/ she disagrees with someone?(10个词以内) {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
