It was Mother's Day, Nancy was 800 miles away from her parents, so she was a little {#blank#}1{#/blank#} . In the morning she {#blank#}2{#/blank#}her mother to wish her a happy Mother's Day, and her mother told her about the beautiful flowers in the garden. Later that day, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  she told her husband about the flowers, he said, "I know where we can find all that you want. Get our children Peter and Lily, and come on." So they went, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  down the country roads.  
     There on a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  , they saw a lot of beautiful purple flowers. Nancy ran {#blank#}6{#/blank#}    to enjoy the flowers. Carefully, she picked a few here and a few there. And on their way home, there was a big smile {#blank#}7{#/blank#} her face.
     When they were passing a nursing home, she saw an old granny sitting in a chair. The granny had {#blank#}8{#/blank#} children with her. They stopped the car and Nancy walked to the old woman, put the flowers in her hands, and smiled at her. The old granny {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  her again and again. She smiled happily, too.
     When Nancy {#blank#}10{#/blank#} to her car, her children asked her, " Who is that old granny? Why did you give our flowers to her?”
" I do't know her.” Nancy said, "But it's Mother's Day, and she is alone. But I have both of you, and I still have my mother. Just think how much those flowers meant to her.

    Making friends is a skill. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you make friends, you have to decide whom you want to be your friends. Most people like to have friends who like to do the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} kind of things as they do.

    The quickest way to make friends is to smile. When you smile, people think you are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to them and easy to talk to. It may not be easy to smile at{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, but remember most people will stay away from an angry-looking face.

    To talk with {#blank#}5{#/blank#} is a good way to make friends. One easy way to start a talk with someone is to say {#blank#}6{#/blank#} nice about him. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} person?

    Ask your new friends some questions about {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. Who are their favorite singers？Where do they live? What do they do after school? There are all good {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to start a talk. Make sure you have something to add to the talk, too. When someone asks you a question, you'd better have an answer for them. Remember that nothing will stop a talk {#blank#}10{#/blank#} quickly than a shrug(耸肩) for an answer.
