Students spend more time at school than anywhere else. At school, children need a safe and comfortable environment to help them learn. By doing the following, parents can help make sure children have a good school life.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Ask your children if they see anyone bullied(被欺负), if they are bullied, or if anything else makes them feel uncomfortable. Look for warning signs, such as a sudden drop in grades or a loss of friends.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Tell children that fighting could lead to them getting hurt, or hurting someone else. Tell them about other ways they can solve a problem, such as walking away or telling to teachers or the adult you know well.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Talk to your children about what they do online—what websites they visit, who they email, and who they chat with. Let them know they can talk to you if anything they see online makes them uncomfortable.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Teach children to follow traffic lights and rules when walking or biking. Stress that they should cross the street at crosswalks.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Don't go anywhere with them, or accept gifts from them when you don't know. If they see a stranger hanging around or in their school, they should tell the people that you know.

    I'd like to thank you for giving money to "Animal Helpers", I'm sure you know that this group was set up to help people like me. You helped to make it possible for me to have Lucky. Lucky makes a big difference to my life. Let me tell you my story.

    What would it be like to be blind or deaf? Or imagine you can't walk or use your hands easily. Most people would never think about this, but many people have these difficulties, I can't use my arms or legs well, so normal things like answering the telephone, opening and closing doors or carrying things are difficult for me. Then one day last year, a friend of mine helped me out. She talked to Animal Helpers about getting me a special trained dog. She also thought a dog might cheer me up. I love animals and I was excited about the idea of having a dog.

    After six months of training with a dog at Animal Helpers, I was able to bring him home. My dog's name is Lucky—a good name for him because I feel very lucky to have him. You see, I'm only able to have a "dog-helper" because of your kindness! Lucky is very clever and understands many English words. He can understand me when I give him orders. For example, I say, "Lucky! get my book," and he does it at once.

    Polar bears(北极熊) are soft and lovely, but they are also very dangerous. Mark's best pal is Agee, just a big cute white polar bear! Mark is a Canadian animal trainer. He and Agee became friends when the polar bear was just about four weeks old. Now Agee is 16 years old and weighs 800 pounds. She can't live at Mark's home now, but both of them are still best friends. They always play, swim and even wrestle(摔跤) together. Agee is not only Mark's best friend, but also the world's first trained polar bear star. She has acted in some films and TV advertisements(广告) . Polar bears usually live in the freezing Arctic region(冰冷的北极地区) . Unluckily, as the weather gets warmer and warmer, there is less and less room for the polar bears to live in. And they have to find their home and have less time to find food. So these make polar bears become fewer and fewer.

    We did a survey (调查) about students' free time activities yesterday. One of our questions was about exercise and of course, it is the most important one. From the survey, we knew only 25% of the girls often have activities outside. Many girls do little exercise. They don't like P.E. classes and even don't play sports. These girls may face a lot of problems. They may get fatter and weaker, And they may get some kinds of illnesses(疾病) easily. Wang Jing, a 16-year-old girl, said, "I don't like doing exercise. I like watching TV on the sofa. I spend at least three hours watching TV a day. My sleeping time is no more than seven hours a day. I often feel tired

    Some girls said, "We don't have enough time to do exercise. We must help our parents with housework because they are very tired after a day's work. We do some washing, clean the house and finish the homework. We don't have time for doing anything else."

    Everyone may have these excuses(借口) for not doing exercise. However, we must know that if we don't do exercise, we will get sick easily. As students, we'd better exercise every day. That makes us live a healthy life.
