When I left for the United States to study. I had butterflies in my stomach. I was nervous because I was going to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} new place with new people and new customs. I couldn't even understand {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(they)language. Everything was different {#blank#}3{#/blank#} my own country. There was nobody that I could talk to. I just had my husband, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} was a new person for me, too.

    It was a sad moment when I had to say goodbye to my family and friends. I didn't want {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(leave)my hometown because I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(grow) up there and had wonderful {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(memory) of the place. So, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (think)about all these changes made me nervous and I was {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(worry)about my new life. But studying abroad was a decision that I made myself. I had to continue and accept the challenge. I looked forward to {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(visit)my family in the summer vacation.

    A proverb says, “Time is money”. But in my opinion, time is even {#blank#}1{#/blank#}precious than money. Why? {#blank#}2{#/blank#} when money is spent, we can earn it back. However, when time is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(go), it will never return.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} is known to all that the time we can use is limited. Therefore we should make {#blank#}5{#/blank#} use of our time to study hard so as to serve our country in {#blank#}6{#/blank#} future.

    But it is a pity that there are a lot of people {#blank#}7{#/blank#} do not realize the value of time. They spend their precious time {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(play).

    In a word, we should form the good habit of {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(save) time. Do not put off what can be done today {#blank#}10{#/blank#} tomorrow.

    Different Countries Have Different Kinds of English

Voyages of people from England play an important part in{#blank#}1{#/blank#}spread) the English language.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}present, English is frequently spoken as an official or common language in many countries, such as America, Singapore, Malaysia and some African countries, all of{#blank#}3{#/blank#} are based on British English. The English spoken in these countries can{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (understand) well by native English speakers. But actually, these English have been changing gradually in accents, spellings, expressions and the usage of vocabulary. Because of this fact, you can make use of the differences {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(tell) which country the foreigners of your block are from. For example, if a boss{#blank#}6{#/blank#}fluent) commands his driver, “Come up straight to my apartment{#blank#}7{#/blank#}elevator and take some gas for my trucks and cabs”, instead of requesting, “Please come to my flat by lift and take some petrol for my{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(lorry) and taxis”, you can recognize{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(he) American identity while the latter{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(suggest)that he is British.

    No trip would be complete without experiencing the local food culture. Actually, China has various kinds of delicious food, including a wide variety of local snacks.

    For most of the foreigners I contacted, and myself {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (include), Peking Duck, Mongolian Hot Pot are the favourite Chinese dishes. China is a place {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the food is not only delicious, but the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(cheap) I've ever found.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my last night in Beijing before {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (return) to the States, I went to a Peking Duck restaurant that had been suggested for me to try. What a beautiful place! Splendid woodblock prints on the walls, fresh flowers in the vases,  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(attract) silverware (银餐具) and beautiful chopsticks. I was handed {#blank#}7{#/blank#} menu and found most of the prices were especially low for the high quality of the food. The lucky came in whole or half, along with all the little decorations - a little tortilla (玉米粉圆饼) to put the sliced cluck and vegetables in, chopped onion and sauce.

    Anyway, I ordered a whole duck, thinking I'd just take the rest back to my hotel {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(eat) later if I couldn't finish it.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(believable), in the end there was none of the whole duck {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(leave) on the plate.

    A 90-year-old has been awarded“Woman Of The Year”for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （be）Britain's oldest full-time employee-still working 40 hours a week. Now Irene Astbury works from 9am to 5pm daily at the pet shop in Macclesfield， {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she opened with her late husband Les. Her years of hard work have {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（final）been acknowledged after a customer nominated（提名）her to be Cheshire's Woman Of The Year.

But then we got an official letter and we were blown away. We are so proud of her. It's {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (wonder）."

    All the customers who went to the new supermarket had one strong wish to be the lucky customer who did not have to pay {#blank#}1{#/blank#} her shopping, for the notice inside the entrance {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (say), "Remember, once a week, one of our customers gets free goods. This may be your lucky day!"

    For several weeks, Mrs. Edwards hoped to be one of the lucky {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (housewife) like many of her friends. She never gave up hope. Cupboards in her kitchen {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (fill) with things that she didn't need at all.
