阅读下列短文,从下面每题的A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳答案。

Every day, it is easy to see advertisements in English all around us. Look at your own bags and clothes, and at the bags and clothes of your classmates. How many different advertisements can you see which use English words?

Often bags and clothes show the name of the company that made them. This is a popular form. A special picture or symbol called a lo go(标识语)is sometimes used. Logos appear on many different products(产品). They are popular because when you see a logo, it is hard to forget that product or company.

It is common to see advertisements on TV and hear them on the radio. Most advertisements are very short. Sometimes the advertisers use a short sentence which is easy for people to say and remember. Nike, for example, has a simple English sentence which is used all around the world: “Just do it.” Advertisements often use funny situations as well. It is simple to remember it.

All advertisements are designed(设计) to make people buy a product. An advertisement for a soft drink, for example, might show a group of young people who are having fun. The young people are all drinking the soft drink. Advertisers are saying to you, “Why don't you buy this drink and be like these people? You can be young and modern.”

Scientist have developed a way to read minds, translating unspoken thoughts into written words. It's the first time it's been done without having to put anything into the brain. They used artificial intelligence (AD). It is the name given to a computer system that is able to "think" for itself and carry out tasks that usually require human intelligence.

Scientists used a special scanner (扫描器). The machine can see where blood runs, which shows the parts of the brain that are most active. People taking part in the experiment (listened to the radio for 16 hours as their brains were scanned. The AI tool learned to connect certain brain activity with words they heard. After that, each person was asked to think of a story, and the AI tool managed to pick up these thoughts as they happened.

The results had about a50%accuracy rate (准确率), although the AI found it hard to work out the meaning of pronouns, such as he or she, her or him. For example, it turned "I don't have my driver's license yet" into "She has not even started to learn to drive yet". It could usually understand the meaning of what someone was thinking rather than the exact words. The AI was personalized, so when it had learnt form one person but it was tested on another, it couldn't understand their thoughts.

The scientists, who have been working on the technology for 15 years, say they understand the risks of it being used badly. Scientist Jerry Tang told a newspaper, "We want to make sure people only use these types of technololgies when they want to, and that it helps them." The scientists hope it will help people with certain medical conditions, who are still awake but have lost the ability to speak, to communicate once again.

We usually think fish can't talk. But there are a lot of sounds under the ocean. In fact, scientists believe that all sea animals – at least 250,000 kinds – can "speak"! If we stay focused when diving (潜水), "we can hear animals all around us," UK scientist Steve Simpson told the BBC.

In the past years, scientists used sound recorders to hear fish's "voices". There are now thousands of recorders in the ocean. They help scientists match sounds with sea life.

A healthy coral reef (珊瑚礁) is one of the noisiest places in the ocean. Scientists can tell if it's healthy by listening to it. A healthy coral reef should be full of clicks (咔嚓声) made by shrimps (小虾). When some coral reefs died in 2015 and 2016, they became quiet. After people set up the protected areas, scientists heard the animals come back.

By listening to the ocean, scientists start to understand sea animals' languages. Strong clownfish (小丑鱼) make short "chirp(啁啾声)" sounds when going after small clownfish. A damselfish(小热带鱼) can create a pop sound to scare other fish by quickly opening and closing its mouth. Mother dolphins can use a special voice to talk to their babies. They are saying "I'm here" to comfort the baby dolphins.

Scientists are building an online library called the Global Library of Underwater Biological Sounds(全球水下生物声音库). It will collect sounds from all over the world to check sea animals' health. Humans need to understand the sounds made by underwater animals before they die out.
