Last {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (圣诞节) Day, when I was at the street {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （角落）, a car {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （经过） by. The car stopped in front of me. A woman looked out of the car and asked me {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （有礼貌地）, "Excuse me, could you tell me the right direction to the  station?" Oh, my god! She was my old classmate. She used to be a shy girl. She didn't {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（敢于）to speak in {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （公众）. But her English was good and she did well in the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （发音） and the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （语法）. I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （羡慕） her very much. Finally we had a happy {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （谈话） and I told her the way to the station.

    My friend Jenny has a great interest in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(learn) English. One day, I found she was writing something and I walked over to her: she was studying the grammar—the using of "it".

    However, she covered(遮盖) it when I came by. I was very {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(surprise) and asked her, "What are you doing?" "Nothing," she answered {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a low voice.

    I didn't know why, did I{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (find) her "secret"? I just wanted to say "sorry". She replied, "Please don't laugh {#blank#}5{#/blank#} me." "I did not do that. Why do you think in that way?" Then she told me that her English was not good and she was a little shy in learning English before others. That was the reason {#blank#}6{#/blank#} she did not make any progress in the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(speak) and written English. And I told her that no one would laugh at her in learning but {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(she)!

    Then I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (give) her some advice on learning English. I asked her to try her best{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (show) her English in order to find her mistakes and tell some stories to her friends and write about the things that she does during the day, and then she could make some progress.

    Great news! Mrs Mumford just told me I had been chosen as one of the school{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(student)to visit the University of Cape Town in South Africa this summer！She said the programme{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(design)for some of the brighter teenagers to experience a different culture.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}a good chance！

    The only problem is: Mum and Dad{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(simple)won't let me go. They said it was dangerous for me, a girl, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(travel)alone. But my guess is that they think it too expensive. I kept telling{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(they)I had been on a plane alone to visit you in Texas before. They needn't worry about me{#blank#}7{#/blank#}this trip would be almost the same as that one.{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(but)they just won't listen!
