Last night I had a wonderful dream. I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} that I turned into a good swimmer.
In my dream, the weather {#blank#}2{#/blank#} fine and I came to a nice beach. There were few people on the beach and I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to swim in the sea. While I was swimming, some {#blank#}4{#/blank#} fish followed me all the time. When I stopped, they came to swam {#blank#}5{#/blank#} me. Then, one of the fish began to talk with me. It {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Chinese, too! We had a wonderful conversation. Soon we became good {#blank#}7{#/blank#} and it invited me to visit the place where they lived.
{#blank#}8{#/blank#} I heard a voice, “Weiwei, it's time to get up! Breakfast is ready!” It was Mom's voice. Just then I woke up from my sweet dream {#blank#}9{#/blank#} had to face the real world again.
My dream was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} like a cartoon film, wasn't it?

     I am Jackie Lee, an {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(America) Chinese. Let me tell you about my {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (grandfather) life story.

    My grandfather was born in 1932 and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(grow) up in a poor village in Fujian, China. At the age of 14, he first heard of America. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (say) to be the land of gold and poor people could {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(easy) become rich there.    So, my grandfather came to America. "I had thought it was easy to make money in America," he told me. "But when I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (arrive) in Los Angeles, I realized it was not true. I couldn't find a good job because  I spoke little English. I wanted {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (go) to a language school to learn English, but I couldn't afford it. Later, I worked in a small restaurant ,{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(serve) the guests, cleaning up the tables, washing the dishes and sweeping the floors. I was such a helpful and honest worker {#blank#}9{#/blank#} my boss was pleased with me. I was popular with my workmates, too. Life became easier and in the end I entered an evening school to learn English."

      My grandfather kept working hard , and finally made {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (he) dream come true. Things do not come easily in life. That is what I have learned from my grandfather.

    The aim of students who came to school is to study. But to s{#blank#}1{#/blank#} requires a right way, or you waste e{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the time or the money. The following are the ways of studying.

    The b{#blank#}3{#/blank#} time for reading is morning, because in the morning, the air is fresh and the mind is clear. For that r{#blank#}4{#/blank#} , we can get good results.

    In studying we must have patience. If we have not k{#blank#}5{#/blank#} a text well, we must read it again. We should not read the next one u{#blank#}6{#/blank#} we have learned the first one.

    When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book, or we can get n{#blank#}7{#/blank#} from the book while we are reading.

    We must always ask “whys”. If it is not w{#blank#}8{#/blank#} understood, write it down and ask our teachers or parents, or friends. In any possible way, we must know it completely and what we've learned can be used well and made better.

    T{#blank#}9{#/blank#} there are many ways for studying, yet the above mentioned will be quite enough if we can keep them in heart and do s{#blank#}10{#/blank#} .

    Betty started to learn English at the{#blank#}1{#/blank#}of six. She went to an after-school English class every week. But Betty thought it was{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(bored) to go to her English classes. She didn't think{#blank#}3{#/blank#}was important to learn English and she did not need to speak English in her everyday life.

    After she{#blank#}4{#/blank#}a school baseball team , she started to know more about the baseball players who joined teams in the USA. Now, she wants to know more about what happens to them. So she reads English newspaper{#blank#}5{#/blank#}the Internet. When she meets new words, she looks{#blank#}6{#/blank#}up in her dictionary and writes difficult sentences in her notebooks. When she goes to school, she asks her English teacher for{#blank#}7{#/blank#}. Little by little, she finds that English is really important, and she is more and more{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(interesting) in it.

    Her parents promise to take her to New York to watch a baseball game if she gets good mark in the English exam next month.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}exciting it is! Betty is so happy that she works{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(hard) on English than before.

    About a hundred people lived in a very small mountain village. It was very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} from the other villages and towns. They had few {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and none of them left the village. Of course there was neither electricity(电) nor gas(煤气) there.

    Once a writer{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the village. The backwardness(落后) of the village surprised him. He decided {#blank#}4{#/blank#} about it to the world. So he took the oldest villager to London. The old man told all about his home and village to the people. Several months {#blank#}5{#/blank#} he returned. All the villagers went to see him and asked him how he had enjoyed {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in the city.

    “Everything is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in London,” the old man said, “I've {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to many good places and eaten all kinds of nice food and other things. But the trouble was I could not {#blank#}9{#/blank#} at night. ”

    “What happened to you?” his wife asked.

    “The{#blank#}10{#/blank#}was on in my bedroom all the time.”

    “Why not blow it out, then?”

    “I tried, but it was inside a little glass bottle.”
