Have you ever been a volunteer? Every year, thousands of young people in Britain take a year1before they start work or go to university. Some young people go to other2like France and Australia to work as volunteers. Volunteers give their time to help people3, they work in schools or hospitals, or they help with environment.

    Pauline Jones, 18, lives in Cardiff, Britain. Next year, she wants to go to4to study French, 5now she's living in Queensland, Australia. Pauline says, "I'm6with other people here to help with the coral reefs(珊瑚)in the7near Queensland. The reefs here are very beautiful, but if the sea water is very 8, the coral will die. I'm helping to do the9on the coral and the fish that living around the coral reefs. All over the world, coral reefs are10. We need to do something about the11before it's too late. "

    I'm staying with a family here and I help with the cooking and the cleaning I don't get12, but it's OK. I love my job here. And I'm learning a lot about people of Queensland-and13! When I14my work, I want to stay here for another three15, I want to travel around Australia. "

    I saw my first butterfly of the spring today. I was 1 some food and other things into my house when suddenly the little lady 2 right down in front of my face.

    3 stayed there for a long time, gently dancing in the air. She was so beautiful that my eyes became filled with tears and my heart 4 with love. Then she left for some delicious flowers growing in my garden. I smiled, wiped my 5 and felt thankful for the wonder of life.

    Butterflies have held a 6 place in my heart since I lost my mother to cancer when she was 7 fifty-five years old. She used to love it when the butterflies would land near her while she worked in the 8. She would even speak to them 9 her musical voice. After she died l would 10 her whenever I saw one of those gentle angels(天使)flying by. I even told my young children that every time they saw a 11 dancing in the gentle wind, it was their grandmother saying "Hello" from 12.

    When today's butterfly dropped in to say "Hello", I once again felt joy beyond words. I felt like l was dancing on the clouds with my mother 13 a thousand angels were singing. Someone 14 say I'm cheating myself, but I know this isn't so. Cheating doesn't fill your heart with 15.The next time you get your own" Hello" from heaven ,just welcome it into your heart and let it help you to be a loving person.

Jessica Long is a very fast Paralympic (残奥会的) swimmer. She was born in Russia 1 a disability (残疾). This was difficult for her mother and Jessica 2 in a special home for children. 

When Jessica was thirteen months old, 3 American couple, Steve and Beth Long, 4 this home. They adopted (收养) her and took her to the USA with 5 . Jessica had a new mom and dad. 

When Jessica was eighteen months old, the 6 said she must lose her legs below the knee. They gave Jessica artificial legs and she learned to 7 for the first time. 

When Jessica was a young child, she 8 to swim in her grandparents' swimming pool. 9 the age of ten, she started to swim in competitions. "She was 10 the first person in the swimming pool and the last person out of it," says her father. 

At twelve, Jessica went to her 11 Paralympic Games in Greece. Her family went with her 12 she was very young. 

Nobody thought Jessica would win, but they were 13 . She won three gold medals (奖牌)!

At fourteen, Jessica went to the World Swimming Championships in South Africa. She won nine more gold medals and she broke five world records!

Jessica likes other 14 , too. She enjoys 15 and, at fourteen, she started rock climbing. Jessica Long is really amazing.
