Four Habits to Help You Succeed
We all want to succeed, whether it's in losing weight or learning the guitar. For those who have tried and failed, success seems difficult to understand. Why does one person succeed where another person fails?
Identify your core values.
Finding your core values is in line with creating inner motivation. Pick a handful of things and actually write them down. Remind yourself of your values every day, and reflect on whether you are honoring those values through your work.
Pick a goal and focus on it.
Choose one goal to start something large enough that will give you a sense of accomplishment, while adjusting well to your core values. Focus is key here. If you perform many tasks at a time, you might never complete your projects because they will take far too long.
Set a deadline for success.
Set a date for success. Identify when you hope to achieve your goal. By setting a time limit, you are making the process more real.
Failure can't be avoided when you take risks, by its very definition, the desire to succeed means you are risking failure. Many people tend to give up far too early. Don't fall into this trap! Remember your mindset earlier. Know it will happen. A failure is merely you working out the details, and learning what works and what doesn't. Use failure. Treat it as a good thing, and march on!
A. The more focused you are on one goal, the higher chance you have of success.
B. Make the right decision.
C. I've made a list of four habits to help set goals and achieve them.
D. Stick to your goal.
E. Keep it realistic, while not giving you too much time.
F. Sit and reflect on what you value most.
G. Push yourself to be courageous, and take the next step.
While going through life with the pursuit of money on our mind, we're often told that money can't buy happiness. But what truth is there in the saying? Is there a relation between money and happiness? {#blank#}1{#/blank#}
Humans are very sensitive to change. When we get a rise, we really enjoy it. But some studies have shown that in North America, additional income beyond 75,000 dollars a year stops impacting day-to-day happiness. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}They often end up spending all the money, going into debt, and experience ruined social relationships.
So surely money can't really buy happiness. Well, recent studies suggest that the problem may actually be in the way that we spend money. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Studies show that people who spend their money on others feel happier. As for the people who spend money on themselves, their happiness is unchanged.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#} One experiment showed that instead of an organization writing a large check to a charity, dividing the amount up among employees, allowing them to contribute to a charity of their choice, increased their job satisfaction. Similarly, individuals that spend money on each other, as opposed to themselves, not only increase job satisfaction, but improve the team performance.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Interestingly, the specific way money is spent on others isn't important. Spending something on others is the important aspect of increasing your happiness.
A. The same principle has been tested on teams and organizations as well. B. Money has more effect on the vast majority of people in the long run. C. Instead of buying things for yourself, try giving some of it to other people and see how you feel. D. And if so, how can we use it to our advantage? E. Almost everywhere we look in the world, we see that giving money to others is positively related to happiness, F. And while you're saving up for these greatest experiences, don't forget the daily joys in life. G. In fact, people who win a lottery often report becoming extremely unhappy. |
A. Why has there been such growth in televised sport? B. Why are there so many benefits of watching live sport on television? C. Televised sport can be helpful in increasing people's value of teamwork. D. There has been a general falling in ticket sales, especially among smaller clubs. E. Through televised sport, more people have become interested in actually playing sport. F. One obvious advantage of televised sport is the money provided by television companies. G. However, it has also been responsible for changing the nature of live sports events for ever. |
It is now possible to watch live sport on television on any day of the week, and the present amount of reporting will undoubtedly increase further in years to come. This is certainly having an influence on the live sports events themselves, and there are both benefits and shortcomings to this.
{#blank#}1{#/blank#} For one thing, with digital broadcasting, there are now many more TV channels than there were even ten years ago. Moreover, sport has become an important form of entertainment, attracting both men and women.
What are the benefits of this televised sport? {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Large football clubs benefit financially (财政上) from TV income and the top players can be well paid. Less popular sports also receive money that can be used in training and advertising. What's more, there is a health benefit to some of the population. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}
However, there will be some disadvantages if so much sport is on television. Considering football again, many small clubs have suffered financial losses recently, as they cannot compete with the large ones. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Fewer people watch live matches nowadays, preferring to watch from the comfort of their living room. And ticket prices have risen greatly.
In a word, watching live sport on television has both good and bad effects. Televised sport has created many chances and benefited certain people and clubs very much. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
