Most cars run on gas. Gas cars work very well. But there is a problem. Cars that run on gas make the air dirty. The dirty air is not good for people, animals or trees. Gas cars make the air dirty for all living things. What can we do? We can drive electric cars!

    Electric cars do not use gas. These cars do not make the air dirty. These cars have batteries that power their motors (马达). The batteries can be charged (充电) many times. They can be used again and again. This makes electric cars great.

    But electric cars have problems too. They are slower than gas cars. They are also very quiet. This means that some people can't hear them when they go by. They may not think a car is coming. So they have to be careful.

    People are finding ways to make electric cars better all the time. Maybe one day all cars will be electric. That would be much better for the world.

    How green are you? Do you know how to be green?

    We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it does harm to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do something to help. In fact, even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. Here are some ideas for you.

    Reduce

    Reduce means "use less". Don't waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution and waste going into the environment. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary—or maybe the old one will be just as good! When we buy things, choose local products if possible, and try not to buy too many things from abroad.

    Reuse

    Reuse means "use again". Use things for as long as possible. When we buy things, make sure that they last a long time. We should look after them so that they will last, and we should repair them if we can instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. Don't use a paper cup or a paper bag. It's better to use a china (瓷器) cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.

    Recycle

    Recycle means "change things into something else". Though it takes energy to change something into something else, it's better than throwing things away or burning them. Find out what can be recycled in your neighbourhood and take part in recycling programmes. We should also buy products made from recycled materials, such as recycled paper, to help save trees.

    So please remember these three words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

This month, we went on a five day trip to Xishuangbanna, a beautiful place in the south of Yunnan Province. The weather there is hot and wet. There a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} many kinds of plants and animals. I want to i {#blank#}2{#/blank#} some interesting things we saw to you during our trip.

In the jungle(丛林), we saw a twining(缠绕的)plant. These P {#blank#}3{#/blank#} grow when seeds-seeds mainly from banyan tees (榕树)are moved by animals or wind to some other trees. These seeds gradually grow, developing their own aerial (空气的) roots. Little by lite, they will get themselves around the host tree and f {#blank#}4{#/blank#} kill it, just like a snake kills its enemy.

A {#blank#}5{#/blank#} thing we learned is that when a tree gets big and strong, some of its aerial roots will grow into the ground and develop into a new tee, just like the way cell division (细胞分裂) works. The w {#blank#}6{#/blank#} tree will look like a small forest. I think this is quite a {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

In the forest, you will sometimes find some red leaves among the green leaves. Why is that?

One reason is that the sunshine is very strong in Yunnan. The trees n {#blank#}8{#/blank#} use all of their leaves in order to do photosynthesis (光合作用) and grow, so the color of some of the leaves c {#blank#}9{#/blank#}to red.

We really enjoyed our trip to Yunnan. We learned a lot about n {#blank#}10{#/blank#} and had a rally fun time. I hope we can take more trips like this in the future.

What will our life be like in the future? Each family will have a  1  I in the future. You can ask it to do everything  2  you. It will serve you  3  hours a day. The robot will look like a (n)  4 . It can talk with you when you are  5  You won't know whether （是否）it is a human （人类）  6  a robot when you meet it on the street.

People will have  7  time to work and more time to travel. The vehicles （交通工具） in the future will fly freely in the sky because every vehicle will have wings with it. They will 8  you toa lot of places. You can go to  9  during your travels when you feel tired. All vehicles will not be  10  because the robots drive them.

One day, a successful businessman was getting ready to go to his office in the morning. When he opened the door of his car, a stray dog(流浪狗) sleeping under his car suddenly came out and bit his leg! He was angry and threw a rock at the dog, but he was not able to hit it. 

Upon reaching his office, the businessman called a meeting of his managers. During the meeting, he took out his anger on his managers. His managers were upset about this, and took out their own anger on the employees(员工) working under them. Gradually, the businessman's anger spread through the whole company. '

The businessman was still angry after returning home. His wife opened the door. She asked him, "Why are you so late today?" The man shouted at his wife, "I didn't go to the office to play soccer, I went to work. So don't ask me such stupid questions!" His wife was upset about being shouted at for no reason. She turned her anger on their son, who was watching TV. "This is all you do. You have no interest in studying! Turn off the TV now!" She yelled. 

The son became upset as well. He walked out of his house and saw a dog passing by. He picked up a rock and threw it at the dog angrily. The dog ran away, barking in pain. 

Sometimes, when we are angry about something, we might take out our anger on others who are not to blame for our mood. This is not fair to others. We should learn to control our anger.
