Nowadays there's a general discussion on zoos among people. These two students write their different ideas on a newspaper.
Zoos Do a Good Job —— Maria Smith
I know a large number of people think it is not wise to keep animals in zoos. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} , I believe that it is good to keep animals in zoos.
Firstly, zoos are places for people to see many different kinds of animals from all over the world. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} zoos, most people would never see a real bear or tiger.
Secondly, zoos {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the animals very well. The animals are given food and cleaned regularly. In the wild (野外) , it is not always easy for an animal to find food, so sometimes it goes {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . But animals kept in zoos never suffer from hunger.
Thirdly, zoos protect the animals they take care of. They {#blank#}5{#/blank#} them safe places to live in. In the wild, some kinds of animals are in danger of becoming extinct (灭绝). But zoos give these animals a chance to live. There would be fewer kinds of animals in the world if there were no zoos.

In my opinion, zoos are not good for animals; they are only good for people.
It is not natural and {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to keep wild animals in cages. Most animals are kept in cages that are too small for them. In the wild, these animals would travel {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . In zoos, they can't do this. This is why the bears and tigers always look so sad.
Most cages are not very clean, either. It is true that zoos give the animals food regularly, but this is not natural. Wild animals {#blank#}8{#/blank#} looking for their own food. We should treat animals in the same way that we treat other people—-with respect.
Would anyone be happy if you don't let him go outside his home? Would Maria like to have lots of people standing outside her flat looking at her? No, she wouldn't. And animals don't like it, either.

    While {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(travel) abroad, Mr. Jackson Frank spent almost all the money he took with him. So he wrote to his brother to send him $ 5000 by bank transfer(汇款) to the Fischer Bank.

    After a week he {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(begin) calling at the Fischer Bank. He showed his passport. “Nothing has come for you,” he{#blank#}3{#/blank#}told. This went on for two weeks, and Mr. Frank got very{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(worry). He sent an email to his brother, but there was no reply.

    In the fourth week Mr. Frank was arrested(拘留) for not {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) able to pay his hotel bill(账单). He tried to explain the problem, but no one believed him. He stayed in prison(监狱){#blank#}6{#/blank#} sixty days.

When he came out, he went immediately to the Fischer Bank. The clerk he spoke {#blank#}7{#/blank#}was a new man. “Have you received $ 5000 for me?” he asked.

    “My name is Jackson Frank.”

    The clerk checked his books. “Yes, Mr. Jackson, it's here. It came by bank transfer more than two months ago. We wondered where you were. ” He showed Mr. Frank the order(汇票).

    The order read, “Pay Mr. Frank Jackson the sum of $5000…”

    “But my name is Jackson Frank, not Frank Jackson.” “Oh, that's all right, sir. It was in our books under the letter ‘J', but it' s your money.” The clerk laughed. “A human mistake, sir! We're all human beings, aren't we? And so we all make mistakes. A family name like Frank {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(sound) strange to me.”

    Mr. Frank was in{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(silent). He really wanted to hit somebody. At last he said, “A human mistake is that what you call it? I think some humans need {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(kick).”

    Do you know that a student can produce up to 240 pounds of school waste and lots of waste gas during a term? This includes transportation, food, paper, pens, pencils and so on.

Transportation

    Many parents like driving their kids to school every day. We all know waste gas from cars is a main cause of air pollution. If parents who live in a neighborhood can drive their kids to school by turns each day, that'll be better. Another way of going green is to walk to school if students live near it.

Food

    It is surprising that only one primary school could produce up to 19,000 pounds of lunch waste each year. That is only one school. One way to help take care of the environment is to stop using plastic bags. There are all kinds of environmental boxes for students to put their food in.

Paper, pens and pencils

    A lot of paper is thrown away by American students. They throw away about 1.6 billion pens every year. They waste many pens and the chemicals of them are bad for the environment. Much more pencils are thrown away than pens. Pencils are made of trees, so if more pencils are thrown away, more trees will be cut down. So students should reuse paper, pens and pencils instead of throwing them away.

Backpacks

    As fashion comes and goes, almost every kid needs a new backpack every year. They can save a lot of money and materials（材料）if they reuse the same schoolbags.

Almost every student needs a new backpack every year as{#blank#}10{#/blank#}changes.

    Wang Ruixu, a CEO born in the 1990s, has got tons of attention since Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang met with him in Zhongnanhai, Beijing. On Feb. 7th, 2015, he returned{#blank#}1{#/blank#}his mother school. Shantou Overseas Middle School, and made{#blank#}2{#/blank#}speech about his experience. Wang said," What leads to success is sticking to your dream{#blank#}3{#/blank#}being thankful."

    In his third year at university, Wang{#blank#}4{#/blank#}up a company and developed a mobile app which offered part-time job information to university students.

    To everyone's surprise, Wang once lost{#blank#}5{#/blank#}in computer games. Unluckily, his parents' factory closed down at that time. To make things worse, he scored only 280 on the high school entrance examination.{#blank#}6{#/blank#}he received a hard  slap(耳光)from his mother because of that, he started to realize{#blank#}7{#/blank#}sad and helpless his mother was! Later he studied hard and got into a key university.

    Wang strongly believes it's important to keep a dream in your mind and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}to it. Now he is{#blank#}9{#/blank#}of himself because most of his dreams have come true. During his speech, he expressed his{#blank#}10{#/blank#}to the teachers who once helped him a lot and he encouraged the students to work harder in the future.
