A Football Player

    Most people make their living with their hands. But Tom makes his living with his feet. A very good living it is, too.

and Tom lives in a very small city in England. His parents are very poor. Seven people live in their small house. Tom has no place to play but in the street. Tom's father often plays football. Little Tom wants to play football, too. So his father makes a soft ball for him to kick. It is a sock filled with pieces of cloth. The little boy kicks it every day. At last Tom learns to kick a real football, and after few years he can play football very well. Now Tom is one of the best football players in the world.

    John lives in a tall building in the city of Beijing. There are eighteen floors in the building, and he lives on the fifteenth floor. He uses a lift(电梯)to go up and down.

    John works very hard. He goes to work early. Every day he gets out of the lift. Then he walks to a bus stop. It is about two hundred meters from his home.

    He usually catches the number 11 bus to work. John works in a factory about ten kilometers from his home. He starts working at 8：30, and finishes at 4：30. He gets back home at 5：15. He gets into the lift, and he goes up to the twelfth floor. Then he gets out of the lift and climbs up to the fifteenth floor on foot.

     Hi! My name is Tina. I'm twelve years old. I like reading stories and drawing pictures. I like dogs very much. And I like playing football. I'm interested in English. English is my favorite subject I can speak English and Chinese.

    The summer vacation is coming. Tina and Jenny are going to London with the school dancing club. They are going there by plane on July 15. They are going to stay there for six days. They are also going to dance for some English children and learn some English dancing. They want to see Big Ben and visit the British Museum in London. They also want to visit the London Eye and Tower Bridge.

    Sherry is going to the USA with her family. They are going there by car on August 2. She is going to stay with her grandparents in Washington D.C. for a week. Her grandparents' house is near the White House, so Sherry and her family are going to go there, too. She also wants to go to some of the museums in Washington D.C. She is going to take many photos there.
