I was nine years old when I learnt to ride a bike. The bike was a birthday present from my uncle. You can imagine how  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(excite)I was when I saw the bike, and I begged my uncle to teach me how  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(ride)it right away. However, before I got on the bike, I felt  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(extreme)nervous and I was afraid that I would fall off and hurt {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(me). My uncle held onto the seat and helpedme to get  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}the bike. While I was riding, he wasrunning along beside me, holding the seat so I would not fall over. I was so {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(grate) to him for his help.

As I was practicing, I became more and more confident. Then, Iheard my uncle shouting, "You are riding it by yourself now!" I was bothexcited and scared. I was really riding by myself, but {#blank#}7{#/blank#}if I fell off? Could I use the brakesto stop? As I was wondering about this, my uncle ran after me and got hold ofthe bike. I {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(slow) down and came to a stop. Myheart was still beating fast when I got off the bike. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (late) that day, having learnt how to get onthe bike and get off it, I felt like I was walking on air! I am still thankfulto my uncle for teaching me to ride a bike on my {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (nine) birthday.

When I was a kid, Mom used to cook food for us. One night after {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(spend) a long hard day at work, Mom placed a plate of bread jam and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (extreme) burnt toast in front of my dad, I was waiting {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (see) if he noticed it. However, while eating his toast. Dad just asked me {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}I do remember I heard Mom apologizing to Dad for burning the toast. I'll never forget what Dad said, “Honey, I love burnt toast.”

    Later that night, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (go) to kiss Daddy good night and asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He gave me {#blank#}7{#/blank#}big hug and said, “Your mamma put in a long hard day at work today, really {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (tire). Besides, a burnt toast never hurts but cold words do!”

What I've learned over the years {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) that learning to accept each other's faults is one of the most important {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(key) to creating a healthy, growing and lasting relationship.

    One Sunday morning in August I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(go) to the local music festival. I left it early because I had an appointment {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(late) that day. My friends walked me to the bus stop and waited with me until the bus arrived.

    I got on the bus and found a seat near the back, and then I noticed a man {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(sit) at the front. He was pretending that a tiger toy was real and giving it a voice. He must be {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(mental) disabled. Behind him were other people to whom he was trying to talk, but after some minutes, he walked away and sat near me, looking {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(annoy).

    I didn't want to be laughed at for {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(talk) to him but I didn't like leaving him on his own {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

    After a while I rose from my seat and walked to the front of the bus. I sat next to the man and introduced{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (I).

    We had {#blank#}9{#/blank#}amazing conversation. He got off the bus before me and I felt very happy the rest of the way home.

    I'm glad I made a choice. It made {#blank#}10{#/blank#} of us feel good.

    Everybody in the world is seeking happiness--and there is one sure way{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(find) it. That is by{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(control) your thoughts. Happiness doesn't depend{#blank#}3{#/blank#} outward conditions, but inner conditions.

    It isn't what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing {#blank#}4{#/blank#}makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it. For example, two people may do {#blank#}5{#/blank#}same thing in a place; both may have about an equal amount of money and status --and yet one may be{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(depress) and the other happy. Why? Because they see things{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(different).I have seen just as many happy faces among the poor farmers {#blank#}8{#/blank#}work very hard in the fields as I have seen in air conditioned offices in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles.

    Abraham Lincoln once {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(say) that “most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be”. He was right. If you decide to be happy, then you will always find plenty of {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(reason) to be happy.

    The burn is a kind of common but very painful {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (injure), While minor burns will heal without much medical attention, severe burns require special care {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (prevent) infection. Before you treat a burn, it is important to understand {#blank#}3{#/blank#} degree of the burn you have suffered.

    First degree burns are the most common and happen as a result of brief contact with hot items and the sun. The damage is only {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the most outer layer of the skin. They will likely appear red and may be {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (mild) painful.

    When you have a second degree burn, your skin might appear {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (swell), blisters will form and the pain will be math more intense. Second degree burns come from brief contact with extremely hot {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (thing), extended contact with hot items and long exposure time in the sun.

    Third degree burns are the most serious {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they need immediate medical attention. These happen when extended exposure to a hot object burns through all three layers of your skin, sometimes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (cause) muscle, fat and bone damage. The burns will have a white or black {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (appear). The pain can vary depending on the level of damage to the nerves in the skin layer. These burns can look wet because of the break of the cells.
