The world is filled with smart，talented and gifted people.We meet them every day.A few days ago，my car was not running well.I pulled it into a garage，and the young mechanic had it fixed in just a few minutes.He knew what was wrong by simply listening to the engine.I was amazed.The sad truth is，great talent is not enough.

        I am constantly shocked at how little talented people earn.I heard the other day that less than 5 percent of Americans earn more than $100,000 a year.A business consultant who specializes in the medical trade was telling me how many doctors and dentists struggle financially.It was this business consultant who gave me the phrase，“They are one skill away from great wealth.”

There is an old saying that goes，“Job means ‘just over broke(破产)'”．And unfortunately，I would say that the saying applies to millions of people.Because school does not think financial intelligence is intelligence，most workers live_within_their_means.They work and they pay the bills.Instead I recommend young people to seek work for what they will learn，more than what they will earn.

       When I ask the classes I teach，“How many of you can cook a better hamburger than McDonald's？” almost all the students raise their hands.I then ask，“So if most of you can cook a better hamburger，how come McDonald's makes more money than you？” The answer is obvious: McDonald's is excellent at business systems.The reason why so many talented people are poor is that they focus on building a better hamburger and know little or nothing about business systems.The world is filled with talented poor people .They focus on perfecting their skills at building a better hamburger rather than the skills of selling and delivering the hamburger. 

        NEWSPAPERS have certainly been around for a long time. Many New Zealand newspapers are now heading towards their 125th anniversary (周年纪念) of the first publication and some New Zealand papers are more than 140 years old.

        However, some people think that newspapers are yesterday's medium(传媒)and that new media，like television and even the Internet，will in the very near future cause newspapers to die. What is clear is that the growth of new media, and in particular the Internet, will cause newspapers to change themselves and change their product to meet customers' needs.

        People read newspapers because of their unique(独特的) strength. They have a large audience and yet a certain appeal(吸引力). They reach the majority of the population each day through covering national and international news and yet they offer interest to gardeners, cooks and even slaves to fashion.

        Newspapers also remain strong because of people's continued love of reading. Reading is an active and involving(专注的) process, but people are able to read at their own speed and return to newspapers for reference purposes.

        Newspapers will certainly not stop the Internet being a competitor (竞争者). But no newly­introduced news medium has ever killed an old one, and if best guesses are to be made then it is likely that this will be the case with this new medium as well.

Three Japanese tourists taking a holiday in Australia got stuck when their GPS told them they could drive from the mainland to an island, failing to mention the 15 kilometres of water and mud in between.

As they drove their hired car from Moreton Bay to nearby North Stradbroke Island, they started to notice the firm surface they were driving on giving way to the well­known bay mud. However, being confident that their GPS would direct them to a road soon, they decided to drive on, managing to travel around 500 metres before their car was up to its tires in mud. To make matters worse, the tide (潮汐) started to come in and soon forced them to seek help and abandon the vehicle. Just four hours later the car was trapped in two metres of water—to the great amusement of onlookers on the shore and passengers on passing boats and ferries.

Yuzu Noda, 21, said she was listening to the GPS and "it told us we could drive down there. It kept saying it would navigate (导航) US to a road. But we got stuck… there's lots of mud". She and her travel companions Tomonari Saeki, 22, and Keita Osada, 21, instead had to give up their plans for a day trip to the island and headed back to the Gold Coast of a lift from the RACQ tow truck (吊车) driver who was called to the trapped car. No such luck for the hired car, though—after assessing the situation, no attempt was made to recover it. The students from Tokyo, who are due to return home tomorrow, said the experience would not put them off returning to Australia for another visit. Mr Tomonari said, "It has rained every day on our six day holiday. Hopefully next time we come back it will be sunny. "

The car was covered by insurance, but the tourists will have to pay up to about $1,500 in extra charges.

I had never been more anxious in my life. I had just spent the last three endless hours trying to get to the airport so that I could travel home. Now, as I watched the bus driver set my luggage on the airport sidewalk, I realized that my anxiety had only just begun.

This was my first visit alone to the international terminal of the airport, and nothing was familiar. I could not make sense of any of the signs. Where was the check­in counter? Where should I take my luggage? I had no idea where to go, feeling as if I were deaf and blind and stupid. I began to panic. What time was it? Where was my plane? I had to find help because I could not be late!

I tried to ask a passing businessman for help, but my words all came out wrong. He just frowned and walked away. What had happened? I had been in this country for a whole semester, and I could not even remember how to ask for directions. This was awful! Another bus arrived at the terminal, and the passengers came out carrying all sorts of luggage. Here was my chance! I could follow them to the right place, and I would not have to say a word.

I dragged my enormous suitcase behind me and followed the group. We finally reached the elevators. Oh, no! They all fit in it, but there was not enough room for me. I watched in despair as the elevator doors closed. I was abandoned again! I had no idea what to do next. I got on the elevator when it returned and stared at all the buttons. Which one could it be? I pressed button 3, because I thought I saw those passengers pressed 3, though it was no more than a quick glance. The elevator slowly climbed up to the third floor and came to a stop. A high, unpleasant noise announced the opening of the doors, and I looked around shyly.
