Steve Jobs was famous for starting Apple Computers. In a speech to graduating students at Stanford University, Jobs told students about some of life-changing experiences. Jobs believed these experiences helped him achieve success.

Job's biological mother was a college student. As a young mother, she felt unable to bring Jobs up so she put him up for adoption. Job's adopted parents were simple working-class people. When Jobs was 17, his parents used their saving to send him to college.

After six months of college, Jobs decided it was not for him. Around that time, he had read a quotation that went something like,“If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.”The quotation made him think about his life and his future. He started to question if he should stay in college. Was he doing what he really wanted to do? Eventually, he decided he had to change something; he decided to drop out of college.

Jobs was lucky because he knew what he loved to do. He started Apple Computers in his parents' garage with a friend when he was 20. In just ten years, Apple grew into a $2 billion company. However in 1985, Jobs was fired from the company.

Jobs was shocked. He lost everything at once. He quickly realized that he still loved what he did, and over the next five years, he started two highly successful companies. next and Pixar. Jobs also met his future wife, Laurence. Jobs was happily married with a family, working for Apple again and living every day as if it were his last.

    Mum and dad are two of the most important people in your life. You probably see at least one of them every day. And they influence (影响) you more than anyone else you meet in your 1ife. So if your mom loves to read, you just might grow up carrying a book wherever you go, just like she does.

    But parents do a lot more than just passing on their hobbies. Mums and dads care for（关心）their children from the minute they were born. So they are the people we should respect(尊敬) and love best. It's very important to stay close, get along, and build a strong relationship with your parents. But not every child knows how to do this. Here are some ways to help you.

    Spend time together. Don't play a computer game or watch TV, ask your mum and dad to play with you. Go outside together, or read a book out loud.

    Be kind. Little things might mean a lot to your mum or dad. You can make your parents happy with a hug (拥抱), a card, or a joke（笑话）. It's also lovely when a child cleans up his or her room without being asked. And if you try not to fight with your brothers or sisters, your parents might be very happy.

    Do your best at whatever you do. You don't have to be perfect, but when you do your best, you make your parents proud(自豪). It makes them happy to see how you're turning into a great kid. Why? Because it lets them know you're doing a good job.

    What is life's greatest gift? It is choice. Choice is the ability to choose some actions from a set of things to achieve a goal{#blank#}1{#/blank#}The reason is that it turns us from dumb animals into artists. Choice becomes the tool we use to sculpt（雕刻）our life. The tool doesn't come free, however, for the price of choice is responsibility.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}It is enjoyment.

    Choice is power. Choice is at the heart of life. It's the creative power of life. Life is always changing and we have to make lots of choices{#blank#}3{#/blank#} We often need to check where we are on our journey. We need to ask questions: Am I moving closer to my goals? If not, what action will I take now to make myself realize my goals?

But the decisions that we make to sculpt our lives are much more important than deciding where to shop. The more we understand the difference between small and big decisions, the more pleasure we will get.

    Life is like a chess game.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}All chess lovers realize that it isn't necessary to win to enjoy the game. Make the best moves you can under the conditions. Then you can enjoy your life.

The moon landing

    It's always been man's dream to fly like a bird in the sky. Back in 1865, a French writer once wrote about man's landing on the moon on a special airplane with three people inside, and the first person to touch the ground on the moon would be American. That was considered (被认为) to be a crazy (疯狂的) idea at that time. Over one hundred years later, on July 20, 1969, however, this impossible dream did come true.

    It was a big day in the history of the 20th century. On that day, a special airplane took three brave (勇敢的) men from Cape Kennedy at a speed of 35,533 feet per second. The trip to the moon took 103 hours and 30 minutes. In fact, it was the first time that man ever "walked" in outer space. On the trip, two of the spacemen spent two hours on the moon walking like flying, and the other stayed in the spaceship. They studied the appearance of the moon. Four days later, the spaceship Apollo 11, returned to the earth and the astronauts were welcomed by people around the country. The man who took the first step, Neil Armstrong, said, "That's a small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." This has been said again and again in every language around the world since then.
