Cartoon is the most popular TV program that attracts many children at the age 3 to 10. It's {#blank#}1{#/blank#} that the word “cartoon” came from Italian. It first referred to the picture before a true drawing on the wall. In the mid-19th century, it came into English. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the 1840s , it has also come to mean any picture that is humorous, satirical(讽刺的) or showing an opinion. It usually comes out in a newspaper and magazine, with or {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a short text. Today cartoons are a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} of the daily life of most people. Cartoons not only show their life, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} also help them relax.

    A road is a bridge between two places. The Silk Road has been a bridge East and West for more than 2,000 years. The Silk Road has been {#blank#}1{#/blank#} included into the UNESCO World Heritage List（世界文化遗产名录）at the 38^th session of the World Heritage Committee in Doha.

    But did you know: the Silk Road is not a single route（路线）! It is a series of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and cultural transmission（传递）routes. It began during the Western Han Dynasty. The trade route starts from the city of Xi'an in Shannxi Province and  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in Eastern Europe, near today's Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea. The Silk Road was about 6,500 kilometers long. It went  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} one-fourth of the planet.

    The Silk Road got its name  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Chinese silk used to be carried along this road. Apart from silk, jade, ceramics and iron went west to Rome. From the west came glass, gems and food {#blank#}6{#/blank#} carrots and sesame（芝麻）.

    The Silk Road was very  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to both China and the rest of the world. Besides trade, knowledge about science, arts and literature, as well as crafts and technologies was  {#blank#}8{#/blank#} across the Silk Road. In this way, languages and cultures developed and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} each other.

    Today, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} along the Silk Road are great travel destinations（目的地）,such as the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an and Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang Gansu.

    How are you?  It's Saturday today and I have some time to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to you. We are busy {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Monday to Friday. We have to get up at six thirty in the morning.     The British also use words like "petal", "duck" "son" and so on. It all depends on (取决于) your age and where you are.     Next time you are called a strange name in {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in the UK, just accept it and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. Remember to say "please'! and "thank you".
