Butterflies are common all over the world, but butterflies in hotter countries are usually bigger and more brightly colored than those in cooler countries, and they are more different kinds.

Usually the male(雄性的)butterflies are more brightly colored than the females. The females have bigger and heavier bodies since they carry the eggs. The bright colors of the males help to attract the females, and the duller(较暗淡的)colors of the females make them less likely(可能的)to be caught by enemies before they have laid their eggs.

Some butterflies hare bright pattern colors on the upper surface of their wings that show when flying, but when they rest on a tree or leaves, they close their wings. On the undersides of their wings there are green and brown marks which look like the tree or leaves. They are then difficult to be seen. The best example of this is the Dead Leaf Butterfly. When its wings are closed, it looks exactly like a dead leaf. There are even marks that look like the holes in a dead leaf. When the butterfly is run after by a bird, it closes its wings and seems to have disappeared completely.

Many butterflies have round marks on their wings that look like eyes. The round marks have a useful function(功能). When the butterflies are resting, their wings are closed, and these marks can't be seen. When a bird sees one, and begins to attack it, the butterfly will open its wings. The bird thinks that it sees two eyes staring at it, frightened, and flies away.

Language learning begins with listening.Children are greatly different in the amount of listening they do before they start speaking,and later starters are often long listeners.Most children will "obey" spoken instructions some time before they can speak,though the word "obey" is hardly accurate (正确无误的),many children will also ask questions by gesture and by making questioning noises.

Any attempt (尝试) to study the development from the noises babies make to their first spoken words leads to many difficulties.It is agreed that they enjoy making noises,and that during the first few months one or two noises are considered to express their feelings,pain,friendliness,they can hardly be regarded as early forms of language.It is agreed,too,and that by six months they are able to add new words to their store.This self﹣imitation(模仿) leads to deliberate(有意的)

It is a problem we need not get our teeth into (认真对待).The meaning of a word depends on what a particular person means by it in a particular situation and it is clear that what a child means by a word will change as he gains more experience of the world.Thus,we don't need to pay much attention to the use at seven months of "mama" as a greeting for his mother because he also uses it at other times for his father,or anything else he likes.Playful and meaningless imitation of what other people say continues after the child has begun to speak for himself.I doubt,however

You must have watched traditional one-person weather forecasts many times. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} do you like them? A little boring, right? Now CCTV has introduced {#blank#}2{#/blank#} new way to describe the weather. By using extended reality (XR) technology (扩展现实技术) to create a "real" scene(情景) in the studio. Let's see how it works.

In a weather forecast video about Super Typhoon Yagi (超强台风摩羯), the hostess first {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (stand) in front of the camera to report the weather conditions. A {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (peace) scene! She then walks to the side. A street gets hit by heavy winds and rain. The hostess has an umbrella in her hand, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the strong wind blows it away. After that, a "tree" is blown down. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (lucky), it doesn't hit the hostess.

The scene makes the storm feel real and the audiences(观众) are surprised by the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (amaze) scene. They follow the hostess's steps {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (explore) different risks(风险) caused by the heavy rainstorms.

Thanks {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the help of the "real" scenes and the host's clear explanations( 解释 ), the audiences better understand the bad weather and {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (it) dangers. What do you think of the new weather forecasts?

One day, Bob followed Bowen to Covent Garden. It made lots of people stop and listen to Bowen's songs. Bowen got more money that evening than{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(几乎) he would usually get during a day. Bob and Bowen had many {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(绝妙的) stories, although there were many hard days to get through as well.

This book is an autobiography(自传), and the real James Bowen himself{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(写) it in 2012. Autobiographies tell you more about what the person is feeling. In A Street Cat Named Bob, Bowen not only tells you about his life with Bob, but also tells you about his {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(父母的) life and his own experiences. The {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(语言) is simple, so it is easy to read.
