My mother speaks very good English but she knows{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Japanese. She went to Tokyo for a meeting on November 11th. The meeting was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} on November 15^th.
The next morning she went to a park and then did some {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . At noon she felt {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  .She went to the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  restaurant and sat down at a table. A waiter came {#blank#}6{#/blank#} and asked her{#blank#}7{#/blank#} she wanted. My mother said in English that she would like some noodles with chicken and some vegetables. But the waiter didn't know English. My mother looked around. No one was eating noodles.
When she saw a piece of paper on her table, she had {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  idea. She took out a pen and wrote the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} words for the food on the paper. She{#blank#}10{#/blank#} the paper to the waiter. The waiter said "OK"and soon he brought her noodles.

    In my {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (看法)，helping others is helping ourselves. This story tellsus the truth.

    One day, a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （口渴的）bee went to a river to drink. As he was drinking, suddenly the beewas carried away by the running water in the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （小溪）. He tried his best to swim towards the bank of the river, but {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （失败）. His life hung by a single thread. Just at that time, a kind birdflew over. Seeing that the bee was in great {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （困境）, the bird picked a leaf off the tree and threw it into the river.The bee climbed onto the leaf and it was {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （带来）safely to the land. He was so thankful to the bird for saving hislife.

Not long after that, the bird was sitting onthe branch of a tree. He didn't know that not far from him, a man raised hisgun and was about to shoot at {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （他）. However, it happened that the bee saw that. He {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （意识到） what the situation was like . As quickly as he could, he flewinto the man's {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （眼睛）and stung him. The pain in his eyes was so great that the man hadto give up shooting at the bird.

    In this way, the bee, whose life had been saved by the bird, was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （能） to save the life of the bird.

It seems to us that Earth stands quite stable (稳定的). But it is really m{#blank#}1{#/blank#} all the time. It turns around a make-believe line through its centre. We c{#blank#}2{#/blank#} this make-believe line Earth's axis(轴). The t{#blank#}3{#/blank#} ends（尽头） of Earth's axis are its poles(极). It t{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Earth 24 hours to travel around its axis once. We look at the sun and say it ‘rises' and t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} across the sky, but the sun doesn't really do so. It is the turning of E{#blank#}6{#/blank#} that makes us feel that the sun were moving across the sky. We can't see the Earth is moving b{#blank#}7{#/blank#} everything on Earth is turning around it.

    As Earth moves around every 24 hours, the first half of Earth faces the sun and then the other h{#blank#}8{#/blank#}. When our half of Earth is f{#blank#}9{#/blank#} the sun, we say it is day. When our half is a{#blank#}10{#/blank#} from the sun, we say it is night. It is the turning of Earth that tells us when to get up and when to go to bed.

    There was a boy who was forced to a boarding(寄宿的)school by his parents. Before being sent away, this boy used to be the b{#blank#}1{#/blank#} student in his class. He was at the top in every competition. But things changed after he went to the new school. His grades started d{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He hated being in a group. He was l{#blank#}3{#/blank#} all the time. He felt he was worthless and that no one loved him.

    His parents began to worry a{#blank#}4{#/blank#}him. But even they did not know what was wrong with him. So his dad decide to visit the school and have a t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} with him by himself.

    They sat on the beach near the school. The father started asking him q{#blank#}6{#/blank#} about his classes, teachers and sports with a smile on his face. After some time his dad said kindly, ”Do you know w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} I am here today, my dear son?”

    The boy answered back q{#blank#}8{#/blank#}, “To check my grades.”

    “No, no.”his dad replied calmly, “I am here to make you u{#blank#}9{#/blank#} that you are the most important person for me. I want to see you happy. I don't care about grades. I care about you. Nothing could be more valuable than your h{#blank#}10{#/blank#}. You are my life!”

    These words made the boy's eyes filled with t{#blank#}11{#/blank#}. He hugged his dad happily. They didn't say a{#blank#}12{#/blank#}to each other for a long time.

    Now the boy knew there was someone in the world who cared about him deeply. He meant the world to someone. From then on, the boy felt confident in his life again.

    In Britain, Boxing Day is usually celebrated on December 26th. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} This means it's not a working day in the whole of Britain. When Boxing Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday is the public holiday.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} One of the thoughts is that during the Middle Ages, when great sailing ships were setting off to discover new land, a Christmas Box was placed by a priest(神父) on each ship. Those sailors who wanted a safe return would drop money into the box.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    One more thought is about the “Alms Box”placed in every church on Christmas Day. Worshippers (做礼拜的人)put gifts for the poor into it. These boxes were always opened the day after Christmas. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Today, many businesses, organizations and families try to keep the traditional spirit of Boxing Day alive by giving away money to Food Banks, providing gifts for the poor, or helping families in need. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    What do you do at weekends? Some people like to stay at home and have a r{#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    O{#blank#}2{#/blank#}people think going out for a walk is good for t{#blank#}3{#/blank#} health. My friend Jack w{#blank#}4{#/blank#} very hard from Monday to Friday. At weekends he a{#blank#}5{#/blank#} does the same things. On Saturdays he washes his car and on Sundays he takes his family to a village (村庄) f{#blank#}6{#/blank#} from his house. His uncle and aunt live there, so Jack goes to see them every week. They have a big farm and o{#blank#}7{#/blank#} one worker to help them. So they are usually very busy. Jack often asks his family to help theman. The c{#blank#}8{#/blank#} give the animals food. Jack and his wife work in the fields(田). A{#blank#}9{#/blank#} a long day of work, they are very t{#blank#}10{#/blank#} and hungry. So Jack's uncle gives them a nice meal. After that about five, they drive home.
