    Twenty years ago, I drove a taxi for a living. One early morning, I1 a call for a taxi. When I arrived at the building, it was 2:30 a.m. and I found the building was dark except for the only light in a first floor window.

    Many drivers would just shout once or twice and then drove away, but I thought this 2 might need my help. So I walked to the door and knocked, “Just a minute,” answered a3, elderly voice.     His story began in El Salvador; where he was born with something wrong with his mouth. He had great 1 in speaking. At age 2, his family's house burned down. Pineda was hurt  2, and his legs needed to be cut. His mother died when he was 8, and he3years on the streets before he was taken in by an orphanage(孤儿院).

    Finally, at the orphanage, Pineda began to receive support and encouragement. He taught himself to play the guitar. He began his4with other musicians. Then the group went to Chicago, where Pineda, then 18, 5the attention of many people, who wondered what they could do to help him.

    A hospital offered him free medical care. A rich man agreed to6for Pineda's tickets to and from El Salvador.

    When he was in the hospital, Pineda began7music, and wondered if he might be able to record his own album(音乐专辑).Soon with the help of a musician, "The Sound of Gratitude(感激)" was born. On October 15^th, Pineda went to a Chicago club to8his new songs to strangers, and to the friends who had helped him come so far,

    It was 9that Pineda had come into such a good luck, after having so many years of hardship(艰难). "We have a 10 in El Salvador, 'Suffer(受难）first, then enjoy.' I guess that's what's happening. " he said.

    "You don't understand me!" I shouted. Then I ran out of the house and got on a bus. I didn't know1it was going. I just wanted to get away from home as2as 1 could.

    I couldn't3what had just happened to me. My mother, the person I believe in, had just read all of my 4 from my close friends! It shouldn't have happened to me. She read my letters and told me not to write to5any more! I couldn't6the tears from falling when I thought about this.

    Later that day, I went to my close7house.8my friend gave me a cup of water, the phone rang.

    "It's your mother," she spoke to me in a low9.

    "Tell her that I'm not here!" I replied. However, my mother heard it. "Tell her not to leave! I'll be right there!" Then she hung up the phone10a "goodbye". In fact, I should say that I was a little11. I couldn't imagine what would happen.

    But to my12, when my mother arrived, "sorry" was the first word she13to me. Her14 told me that she had been crying and her voice told me that she was really tired. "Will you forgive me?" at last she asked. I didn't know what to say. I just15her, and gave her a big hug.
