UMass Lowell's Outdoor Adventure Program offers all kinds of outdoor trips to people. Below is the information about our trips.

Biking trips. There are two forms of biking trips —day road biking trips and overnight biking trips. On day trips, we enjoy local green ways like the Nashua River Rail Trail or the Minuteman Trail. On overnight trips, we may travel to places like Cape Cod or Portland, Maine. We also take breaks to enjoy the beaches, lighthouses, parks and small towns that we pass along the way.

Hiking trips. Our hiking trips are full of fun and adventure. Some of the most beautiful mountains are only a few hours away from UMass Lowell. No matter what season, we enjoy great places. We climb mountains to watch the bright fall colors or fresh green of spring. We experience the wonderland of winter on our winter day hikes.

Snowboarding trips. Our snowboarding trips take advantage of winter conditions to get members out on the white snow. We spend one weekend at a popular place with different paths. We spend an evening at Crotched Mountain, which offers campfires and live music to enjoy.

Surfing trips. Our surfing trips travel to Hampton Beach, NH in fall and Narragansett, RI in spring. Beginners spend the first 1—1.5 hours with a surfing coach starting on land and then getting into the water. The rest of the time is used to catch waves.

任务 B:根据文章内容提出一个问题。不超过15个词。

 根据短文内容,判断正、误。

Are you an "I" person or an "E" person? People have talked about it a lot online recently. They are part of a popular personality (性格) test called MBTI.

Everyone's result has four letters. "I" and "E" are the first letters. People are either "I", meaning introverted (内向的), or "E", for extroverted (外向的).

But sometimes introverted people can be outgoing, too. For example, an "I" person will hang out with a group of introverted friends. The person may do things a more "extroverted" person would do. For example, he or she may share their thoughts and feelings with others and ask strangers for directions.

I'm one of these kinds of people. Most of the time, I show an interest in new classmates and friends. I talk with them to show I'm friendly. But honestly, I like being alone and staying quiet.

I have to say, the personality test is just for fun. Everyone's personality is different. Don't let the test tell you who you are.

In this case, I was a bad example. I used to be very interested in my friends' MBTI results. I would get upset if their results didn't match the way I see them.

Soon, I think everyone might have a "personality stamp". For example, "P" people don't like to make plans. On the other hand, "J" people are planners and list-makers. My sister is a "P" person. She never plans. But one day, she was happily making a day-to-day travel plan for the holiday.

"I thought you were a 'P' person," I said to her.

"Do I have to follow what my personality test tells me?" she replied.

"Oh no," I said to myself. "I've taken the result too seriously."

The four letters don't tell you everything about a person. And no one should live according to what four letters tell you.

 请阅读短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案。

It's reported that 800 million people around the world have experienced back pain. And many of them find that their pain keeps coming back. ____ But scientists believe that doing one simple thing could help: walking.

Scientists invited 700 people to take part in a study. Most were women and all of them had recently experienced back pain. The people were put into two groups. One group took part in a walking program and had six meetings with a doctor. People in this group were asked to walk half an hour five days a week, while those in the other group didn't do anything. The scientists followed up the two groups for three years.

The scientists' findings are surprising. People in the walking group had an average (平均) of  208 days before their back pain recurred, while those in the other group felt the pain again after an average of 112 days. What's more, people in the walking group also made far fewer visits to the doctor.

Why is walking helpful to lower back pain? Scientists are not yet certain of the reasons. But they think it's probably because walking can get the muscles (肌肉) stronger and improve sleep. As for how to walk, they suggest walking on a flat (平整的) surface. People also should listen to their bodies, as walking too far or for too long could make the pain worse.
