I was feeling a little blue because my mother had lost her job.

    One day, while I was 1 on the street, I heard the piano music and singing rising above the noise of the people. I walked more slowly to 2 where it was coming from. Then I saw a young lady sitting at a piano.

    She was singing songs about love, 3 yourself and keeping on trying. The way she was singing made me a little comfortable. I stood there 4, watching her playing on such a crowded New York square. I thought that she must be 5 enough to perform in front of so many people.  

    She noticed me: I walked over and told her how good her 6 sounded. "Thank you," she said.

    "I have been going through a hard time recently, 7 you've made me hopeful again." I said to her.

    "I'm glad that I could help," she replied. "Why are you so 8?"

    "Well, my mum has lost her job, and I'm not sure what to do.”

    "Did you notice the 9 you were walking? Your head was down." she said. "Don't be upset, because 10 comes in different ways and if your head is down, you might not see it. You should 11 more and lift your head up. "

    I looked 12 her, amazed at how she was encouraging me. " 13 are you playing the piano here?" I asked her with a smile.

    She 14  that she saw a lot of unhappy people in the world and she tried to cheer 15 up by playing music.  

    I smiled a little wilder, realizing that no difficulties could stop me from going on.

    My family came to America from China many years ago. I was born in Oakland in 1989. Many young Chinese Americans don't learn much1because our parents2us to learn English very well.

    Chinese is a difficult language. If we don't speak it3, it's easy to forget. Writing is hard, too. We have to remember lots of words and thousands of characters (汉字). In English, there are only 26 4.

    At home, I5English with my family. But now, we speak some Cantonese (广东话) because we watch films 6 that language.

    My mom has come to love F4, a Chinese boy band (组合). They are in the film Meteor Garden (《流星花园》). We all7the TV series, and we learn Cantonese8 saying some funny words from the TV series to each other.

    It's fun to speak Cantonese with my Chinese friends. It 9funny because we can't say the words just right.

    Young Chinese Americans know that our culture (文化) is getting lost, so we try to10something.

How are you? I want to tell you something about my {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to the city space museum two days ago. I never visited there before, so I was very excited! When my sister and I arrived, we started to explore. It's very large and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} interesting and exciting objects to touch.

The {#blank#}3{#/blank#} room looks like deep space. There is information about different planets with a game at the end. The winner can create a name for a {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Isn't that exciting?

The next room looks like the inside of a spaceship. You can touch an astronaut's spacesuit and you can see {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the astronauts prepare their food.

I am sitting in an empty football field after my last high school football game finished a few hours ago. I'm the midfield player(中场球员) in my team. But in fact that's not 1 now. I was the midfield player because, as I said, this was my 2 game. That's a good way to end a high school football career(生涯), especially if you win, but even though you don't , it's good to3 at a high point. 

I was eight when I first started playing football. My dad 4 football, and he used to practice with me at home — passing, catching, running. We used to 5 almost every evening until it got too dark. He tried to teach me 6 he knew about the game. " Just remember: Don't ever 7 . "" Stay in the game. Don't lose your concentration(专注). "" Go out there and give 110 percent every time. " Well, that was a long time ago, but I still hear his words 8 in my ears. 

I had a lot in my mind before the game today. I don't like things to 9 , I guess, and this was the last game. I was talking to myself and 10 myself about what to do and not to do. I didn't sleep at all yesterday, and when the sun came up this morning, I reached the point where11 just wanted it all to be over. But then when the game started, my mind became empty. 

I just lived in this game this moment. I didn't 12 the crowd; I didn't feel the cold or the pain;I never felt tired. I just kept my eyes on the ball, and it was just me and the ball and, inside, a soft, white light 13 me the way to the goal. It was a beautiful, empty 14 . 

It's all over now, and it's really getting cold here. It's starting to snow. The sun's almost gone, and I 15 see the goal. Now it's dark and I'm sitting here all alone. Well, I guess it's time to say good- bye and move on. 

Lucy and I are know each other for a long time. Although we are not in the same class, she is my best friend. She is a(n) {#blank#}1{#/blank#} girl. She likes making friends and often helps others She is good at dancing. She has dance lessons {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a week.

Lucy is a good student. She always does well at school. She likes English best. Every morning, she reads English {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. She never gets {#blank#}4{#/blank#} with English. She also likes architecture(建筑). She likes tall {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. She hopes to build one by herself one day.
