Money makes the world go round. But money isn't anything when people don't know how to use it. And no one is better at using money than American investor（投资者）Warren Buffet. He is one of the richest men in the world.

    Buffet was born in Nebraska in the US in 1930. As a child, he loved making and saving money. He used to go door-to-door selling his own products（产品）.

    After university, Buffet went on buying and selling shares（股票）. Shares are small part of a company. He is good at predicting changes in companies. By 1962, he became a rich man. In 1990, he went one step further and became a billionaire（亿万富翁）.

    In 2008, Warren Buffet became the richest man in the world. He has promised to give 99% of his wealth to charity（慈善）after he dies.

    I live on the twelfth floor of a building. One afternoon I was coming home from a friend's house. It was just after four o'clock. I got quickly into the lift and pressed Button(按钮)13.

    The lift started to go up, but very slowly. And then, halfway up, it suddenly stopped between two floors. I couldn't understand it. I pressed all the buttons from 1 to 14.I called for help very loudly. But nobody answered.

    Then suddenly the lights went out, and I was alone in the dark. I started to cry and beat the walls of the lift. I cried and cried until I had no voice left. Then, I felt hopeless, and pressed all the buttons with my hands. And at the same time, there was a bell far away. It rang and rang. It was the fire alarm. I thought the whole building was on fire. I said to God quietly, "Just get me out of here. I'll never be bad again."

    Just then, I realized the lift was moving very slowly. On the ground floor it stopped, and the door opened. A man was standing there. "How long have you been there? It is good that you pressed the alarm bell. But haven't you learned to read at your school?" He pointed at a small piece of paper on the wall beside the lift. It said:

    "Attention: This lift will be stopped for repairs between 4 p.m. and 5p.m. on Thursday, March 13."

Joel Sartore is a writer, teacher, and photographer. His words and beautiful images show his love of photography and of the natural world.

Question 1: How did you become a National Geographic photographer?

My first job was for a newspaper. After a few years there, I met a National Geographic photographer. He liked my photos and said I should send some to the magazine. So I did. That led to a one-day job. And that led to a nine-day job, and so on.

To get into National Geographic, you have to give them something they don't have. It's not enough just to be a great photographer. You also have to be a scientist, for example, or be able to dive under sea ice, or spend maybe several days in a tree.

Question 3: Is it hard to get a job as a photographer today?

It's now harder to work for magazines. Technology makes it easy to take good pictures, which means there are more photos and photographers. Also, the Web is filled with photos from all around the world that are free, or cost very little. These photos are often good enough to be put in books and magazines. What the magazines need to do these days is to pay for these photos.

Question 4: I want to be a photographer. Do you have any advice for me?

Advice? Well, work hard. Be passionate（热情的） about every project you work on. Take lots of pictures in different situations. Look at others' photos thoughtfully and learn from them. And be curious about everything. There's something to photograph everywhere.

Mao Junfang is a bamboo craftsman(手艺人). When he was 17, he began to 1 how to make bamboo weaving crafts(竹编). He finished his learning two years later 2 he started to sell bamboo crafts. 

Ten years ago, making bamboo weaving crafts could not support Mao Junfang's family, so he had to work as a 3 in the factory to make some money. He did cleaning carefully to keep the factory tidy. He could take a one- day break every two days. 4 his break, Mao would make bamboo crafts at home. He likes to 5 different ideas when he's making bamboo weaving crafts. An over10- meter- long bamboo can magically be turned into chairs, 6 , food covers, and other kinds of tools. With his fine craftsman skills, Mao has 7 great respect(尊敬) among his countrymen. He has also got great prizes for his bamboo weaving crafts. 

Making bamboo weaving crafts needs both 8 and patience. A bamboo craftsman must be hard- working. Every day, Mao Junfang gets up 9 to begin his work at 6:00 am and he stops working after 9:00 pm. However, he can make only a few pieces a day. " Life is 10 for a bamboo craftsman. I don't want anyone else to experience the same life as I do, and I don't want the traditional craft to disappear, either, " Mao says.
