Hi, I'm Bella. I can't remember a time when my bedroom didn't have a bookshelf. From Dr. Seuss to Mother Goose, I had all kinds of books that progressed in size as I got older.

    My earliest memory of books was sitting on my bed at night with my mum reading to my older brother and me. And my first beloved book was a children's book about being a chosen child. It helped me, an adopted (被收养的) child, learn that my family was my very own because they chose me. As I got older, the books got thicker and more difficult. The first book I ever bought with my own money was L. M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables.

    When in primary school, there Was a book catalog (目录). We could take it home and ask our parents to help us order new books. Then the books would be sent to the school. There was nothing better than getting my little bag of books.

    My love for science fiction was deepened by my older brother's love for it. He introduced me to Star Trek and Doctor Who, but it was his copy of The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks that got me really interested in science fiction.

    I read classics (名著) in high school. The first time I had the thought that I wanted to be a writer was after reading one of Edgar Allan Poe's works. And his use of words surprised me. Yeah, it's no wonder I studied English in university and later I became an English teacher. Through my work, I can pass on my love for the written word and books to my students. How great!

    A very new, young officer（军官）was at a station. He was on his way to visit his mother in another town, and he wanted to telephone her to tell her the time of this train, so that she could meet him at the station in her car. He looked in all his pockets, but he did not have the coins（硬币）for the telephone, so he went outside and looked around for someone to help him.

    At last an old soldier came by, and the young officer stopped him and said, "Do you have change for ten pence（便士）?"

    "Wait a moment,' the old soldier answered. He began to put his hand in his pocket, "I'll see if I can help you."

    "Don't you know how to speak to an officer?" the young man said angrily. "Now let's start again. Do you have change for ten pence?"

    "No, sir," the old soldier answered politely and quickly.

    Mr. Brown and Mrs. Brown are teachers. But they teach in different schools. Every day Mrs. Brown goes home early. Mr. Brown's school is not near their home. He goes home late. Mr. Brown likes Chinese. He often goes to Chinese classes. One day he has a friendly talk with a Chinese student and goes home very late.

    He opens the door and says, "Sorry, my dear. I am too late today, but I…" Mrs. Brown is not in the room. "That's strange（奇怪）. She likes watching TV. She doesn't like going out in the evening. But where is she now?" Mr. Brown looks here and there. Then he sees a note on the table. It says "Don't make any excuse this time. I am going out to see my friends. Don't wait for me. "

At first, the strong bear doesn't like him but finally he is touched by the young bear's kindness. So he helps the young bear solve many problems like fighting with a cougar(美洲狮).

    There aren't any talking animals, but the film is funny for most kids. However, we wouldn't call it a children's film. From the exciting film about the two bears, a cougar and the hunters, we can know that the true meaning about life is that "The greatest thrill is not to kill but to let live."
