The air is everywhere around us. Air has no colour. We can't see it. When it moves, we can feel the air. Air is very important to our lives. People and plants can't live without it. If there was no air, there would be no life.

    Aeroplanes can't fly without air. The air holds up the planes. We can't make fire (生火) without air. If you cover (盖住) a burning (燃烧的) candle with a glass. It will quickly go out (熄灭).

    Sound spread (传播) through the air. Without air, we can't hear.

    My name's Meimei. I'm Chinese, but I live in England. I can speak English very well, but I sometimes make mistakes.

    One day, our teacher said to us, "We'll go on a school trip to a beautiful farm tomorrow. There are lots of plants and flowers. There are many fruit trees, too." I was very happy and I said, "Wow, I like fruit. I want to pick some bears!" Then my teacher said, "Meimei, we are going to the farm, not to the zoo. There are no bears at the farm." Oh, I made a mistake! I wanted to say "pear", the fruit, not "bear", the animal. It was very funny!

    Bill likes playing computer games. When Bill's parents pick fruit. Bill plays computer games. When Bill's family visit his grandparents. Bill still plays computer games. When Bill and his father go fishing, he still plays computer games.

    My friend Jack works hard in a factory during the weekdays. At the weekend he always does different things. On Saturday he goes fishing and on Sunday he goes to a village with his family by car. His uncle and aunt have a farm there. The children play with the animals and give them food.

    I'm Nicky. I'm from the city of Hangzhou. I like it. It is beautiful. There is a big lake in the city. There are many flowers and trees near the lake. We often cat good food or go shopping on the weekends.

    My grandpa lives in a village. It is between two hills. There is a river in front of his house. The water is clean. Sometimes. I read under the big tree beside the river or listen to the birds singing. There is a vegetable garden behind my grandpa's house. You can see red tomatoes and fresh carrots in the garden. I love the village very much.
