Henry found a job in a bookstore after graduating from the middle school. He wanted to get rich he didn't want to do anything.
It was a cold morning. It was snowing (heavy) and there was thin ice on the streets. Few people went to buy the books and the young man had nothing to do. While he (watch) the traffic, a bag fell off a truck and it landed by the other side of the street.
"It was full of expensive things." Henry said to (he). "I have to get it right now, or others will take it away."
And then, he went out of the shop. A driver saw him (run) across the street and began to whistle(鸣笛), but he was hurried that he didn't hear anything, he went on running. The driver had to drive to the side and he hit a big tree. (unlucky), he was hurt in the accident. Two weeks later Henry was taken to court. A judge(法官) asked he heard the whistle when he was running across the street. He said that something was wrong with his ears and he could hear nothing.
"But you can hear me this time," said the judge.
"Oh, I' m sorry. Now I can hear with one ear."
"Cover the ear your hand and listen to me with your deaf one. Well, can you hear me?"
"No, I can't, sir."
"You are telling lies(谎). There is (something) wrong with either of your ears." The judge said.
