A lift is very useful. It is {#blank#}1{#/blank#}a small room. It goes up {#blank#}2{#/blank#} down all day. Sometimes a worker

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( stand) in the lift. He or she operates(操作)it up and down. In modern lifts, there {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(be) no worker. People walk in. They know which floor they want to go. They push a button(按钮)and the lift goes to that floor.

    It's very fast and easy.   Lifts are very important to us. Why？ Think about a tall {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(build). Maybe it has twenty floors. Maybe it has fifty or {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(many). Who can walk up all the stairs(楼梯)？Maybe people can climb them once. Can someone climb thirty floors to an office every day？ Can small children walk up to their rooms on {#blank#}7{#/blank#}twenty-fourth floor？ Can their mothers {#blank#}8{#/blank#}fathers carry food up to all those stairs？Of course not. We can have very high buildings {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we have lifts. We could not have all the beautiful tall buildings without lifts. Because it is too tired for people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(climb) the stairs every day.

    This is Tammela School, a primary school in Finland. The students are having a math class with their robot teacher.

    The "teacher" is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}small, blue machine about 25cm high, Reuters reported. Whenever students have problems, it helps them very{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(patient) and never gets bored.

    "The robot can make students{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(active) in class than usual. I see Elias as one of the{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(tool) to get different kinds of practice and activities into the classroom," a teacher told Reuters.

    So far the school{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(introduce) four robot teachers, one of whom is a language teacher that can speak 23 languages and dance to music. "{#blank#}6{#/blank#}is necessary to encourage kids to come up{#blank#}7{#/blank#}new ways to make use of technology in school life," the head of the school{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(add) in the interview.

    The robot teachers are used{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(help) improve learning. This doesn't mean that human teachers will lose their jobs. The robots can teach well,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}they are not able to keep class in order. The school still needs human teachers.

    English is difficult {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （learn）because it is so different from our mother tongue（母语）. Also, we don't have much chance to speak English with foreigners or hear English {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （speak）.

    So the first important thing for us to do, I think, is to practise {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （speak）English more both in and out of class. In class I listen to the teacher {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （careful）and try my best to answer the teacher's questions in English. After class, I listen to the tapes and wonderful English {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （song）. I often retell the texts {#blank#}6{#/blank#} my own words. I always work {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （hard）at English and never give up.

    Of course this is not enough. When I find something {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （interest）, I write it {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in English. At first, I couldn't write well, but with the help of my teacher, I have {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （make）great progress.
