I am a Chinese boy. My name is Li Jun. I had a wish to go abroad (到国外) for a very long time. Finally a good chance came. Now I am studying in the USA. My wish comes true (真实的), but I am not happy here. I want to go back to China because I hate the food in the USA. People in the USA eat a lot of bread. They also like fast food and fried chicken very much. But I don't like such food. I like Chinese food. There are many different kinds of food in China. They are all very delicious. So, I often go to the Chinese restaurants in America. The food there is nice but very expensive. The American people also like Chinese food very much.

    It was a rainy night in New Orleans, US. At a bus station, I watched a young girl cry as her baggage(行李) was taken down. It seemed she'd lost her ticket. She begged the bus driver not to leave her behind.

     “Losing your ticket is like losing your money,” the bus driver said, and left her in the rain.

But then an old man stood up and blocked the driver's way. “How can you leave that girl out there? You know she had a ticket. You can't just leave her here. You can't leave her in a city where she doesn't have a friend. You will meet your schedule, but she might meet her end.”

      The driver showed no sign that he'd heard or even cared about the young girl's problem, or how her travels went.

    So the old gentleman said, “I'll pay for her fare. I'll give her a little money to help her on her way.”

    He went and bought the ticket for the girl. “How can I repay the kindness you've shown tonight?” She asked. “We're strangers who won't meet again. A mere 'thank you' doesn't seem right.”

    The old man said, "What goes around comes around. I've learned this with time. Whatever you give, you always get back. Always be helpful to others and give what you can spare.”

    Anny was a five-year-old girl. One day when she and her mother were in a department store（百货商店）, Anny saw a plastic pearl necklace (珍珠项链). What a beautiful necklace! She wanted it very much, so she begged（乞求）her mother to buy it for her. The mother said, “Well, I can buy you the necklace, but when we get home, we should discuss what you can do to pay for it. Can we do that?” Anny agreed with much happiness, and she got the necklace.

    How much Anny loved the necklace! She wore it everywhere and every minute. Anny also did part - time jobs to make pocket money. She worked very hard. Soon she succeeded in paying off the price for the necklace.

    Anny's daddy knew how she tried her best to get the necklace. He also knew how much Anny cared about it. One night, he asked Anny if she loved him. “Sure, Daddy.” the little girl said. “Then how about giving me your necklace?” “Oh, no, Daddy! Not my necklace!” Anny cried. “Oh, dear, it's fine.” her father gave her a kiss.

    Several days later, Anny went to her daddy, with her lips(嘴唇) trembling(颤抖). “Here, Daddy. I love you.” She held out her hand. Inside it was the plastic pearl necklace that she loved so much.

    When he saw this, Anny's father smiled with surprise. He then pulled a cute box out of his pocket. Inside the box was a real and colourful pearl necklace, which was waiting for Anny for so long.

    A lot of boys and girls in western countries are wearing the same kind of clothes, and many of them have long hair, so it is often difficult to tell whether they are boys or girls.

    One day an old man went for a walk in a park in Washington and when he was tired, he sat down on a chair by a swimming pool. A young person was standing on the other side of the pool.

    "Oh!" the old man said to the person sitting next to him. "Do you see the person with the loose clothes and long hair? Is it a boy or a girl?"

    "A girl," said his neighbor. "She is my daughter."

    "Oh!" the old man said quickly. "Please forgive me. I didn't know that you were her mother."

    "I'm not," said the person. "I'm her father."

      Feeding a crowd of hundreds doesn't make Kenny Seals-Nutt nervous.

In fact, he does well and successfully in the kitchen. He's in his perfect place when dicing tomatoes, making salads and baking cakes.

      By the time Kenny, 16, reached his third year of high school at Hickory Grove,

      North Carolina, US, he had become president of his school's cooking club. He also opened his own food company, called Modern Fusion. 

      Kenny said he developed his love of cooking by watching his mother, and his grandmother, who owned a catering business（饮食业）. Kenny helped them both in order to remember their tips: how long to cook chicken so it stays wet, and the right amount of tomatoes to add to the noodles or fishes.

      At the age of 5, he cooked his first dish. Taking it for his school lunch, he warmed it up in the school's microwave, while the other kids ate their sandwiches.

      “I love to eat, and it started to become more fun to cook than to use a microwave,” he said.

      Cooking came easy to Kenny, and he enjoyed adding new ingredients （作料） into common dishes. “It started with a strong interest and I wanted to know more,” he said.

      He began to watch the Food Network and read chef（大厨）blogs.

      Last summer, Kenny put his skills to the test by working with his grandmother to cater（备办食物）for his uncle's wedding. While she cooked traditional dishes, Kenny wanted to add something new to them.

      Now Kenny spends his weekends catering his own events: weddings, birthday parties, baby showers and so on. Kenny's dishes are always a hit.

 Chef Frederick Mookie Hicks, owner of a catering business, said Kenny's success comes from his ability in the kitchen. Hicks said he has asked Kenny to cook with him on jobs three times now, and he presents Kenny as a positive example of a good chef to the students in his cooking classes.

“He's so smart at cooking that he doesn't let anything stop him,” Hicks said. “I knew in the first five minutes of working with the kid that he is something special.”
