One day a rich man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor country people were.

    They stayed one day and one night in the farm-house of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} very poor farm. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the way back home at the end of the trip the father asked the son, “{#blank#}3{#/blank#} did you think of the trip?”

    The son  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (reply), “Very nice, Dad.”

    The father then asked, “Did you notice how poor they were?”

    The son said, “Yes, I guess so.”

    The father then added, “What did you learn?”

    To {#blank#}5{#/blank#} question, the son thought for a moment and answered {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (slow), “I learned that we have one dog and they have four. We have a fountain in the garden and they have a small river{#blank#}7{#/blank#} has no end. We have brightly colored {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (lantern) in our garden, while they have the stars. Our garden {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (go) to the edge of our yard, but for their back yard they have the whole horizon.”

    At the son's reply, the rich father was speechless (无语的). His son then said, “Thanks, Dad, for{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (show) me how poor we really are.”

Hotel Clerk: Hi, can I help you?

Man : Yes. I'd like a room {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the night, please. The sign outside says you have vacancies(空房)

Hotel Clerk: Yes, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} only a couple. I guess nobody wants to drive in such {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (storm) weather.

Man : I surely don't. How much are the rooms?

Hotel Clerk:  They are ﹩50 a {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

Man : That's fine.

Hotel Clerk: I can give you Room 14. It is right beside the coffee shop. I just need you {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (sign) the register.

Man : There you go. I am {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (awful)hungry, Is the coffee shop still open?

Hotel Clerk: Yes, it is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} until nine o'clock. If you want anything after that, there are a couple of machines {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sell) soft drinks, chocolate bars, and so on.

Hotel Clerk:Yes, we've got cable(光缆) TV.

Man : Oh, that's great.

    Curiosity is part of human nature. Children want answers {#blank#}1{#/blank#} tons of questions. People keep reading or watching because they want to find out what happens. But curiosity also provides many {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (practice) benefits.

    Many of history's greatest {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (discover) were made by curious people. People wondered how processes worked or how certain tasks could be done more {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (effect). Thanks to their curiosity, people now know far more about the world and obtain useful technology {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (help) themselves.

    Even if you don't plan to be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} inventor or researcher, curiosity can still help you in the classroom. If you develop the joy of learning, classes will become more fun. Even if you are no longer a student, curiosity will make you better {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (inform) and thus a more capable worker. Often, the more you learn about a topic, the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (interest) it becomes.

    Thus, ask a lot of questions. Remember, everyone knows something {#blank#}9{#/blank#} you don't. Find out what that is, and ask about it.

    In the classroom or out of {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, developing curiosity is sure to be worthwhile.

    We want everyone to respect us. Do we respect everyone around us? The answer is a big NO! We don't respect {#blank#}1{#/blank#}we think is better than us, we don't respect poor and old people, and we don't respect who we feel is less better {#blank#}2{#/blank#}us. So how can we win respect? The easiest way {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (gain) respect is by giving respect.

    Winning respect might be difficult but not impossible. Don't use bad language. Being {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(help) and listening to someone are a sign of giving respect and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(win) respect as well. With patience and practice, you can get any kind of virtue.

    Flowers are the main {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(attract) of any type of decoration and in the same way respect is the beauty of life. Life is terrible {#blank#}7{#/blank#}respect. Just think whenever you go to a party, every one there is not treated equally. Do you know why? Because of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(they) manners.

    Why are we not treated sometimes as {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(expect)? Because we do the same to others who have expectations from us. Relationship can be healthy if we never cross the walls of respect. Without respect, you can't live. You need respect everywhere in life, in work, in society or in family. A respected person {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(speak) politely.
