One day a rich man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor country people were.

    They stayed one day and one night in the farm-house of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} very poor farm. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the way back home at the end of the trip the father asked the son, “{#blank#}3{#/blank#} did you think of the trip?”

    The son  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (reply), “Very nice, Dad.”

    The father then asked, “Did you notice how poor they were?”

    The son said, “Yes, I guess so.”

    The father then added, “What did you learn?”

    To {#blank#}5{#/blank#} question, the son thought for a moment and answered {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (slow), “I learned that we have one dog and they have four. We have a fountain in the garden and they have a small river{#blank#}7{#/blank#} has no end. We have brightly colored {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (lantern) in our garden, while they have the stars. Our garden {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (go) to the edge of our yard, but for their back yard they have the whole horizon.”

    At the son's reply, the rich father was speechless (无语的). His son then said, “Thanks, Dad, for{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (show) me how poor we really are.”

    The so-called Americanization phenomenon seems to be more a result of the recent globalization(全球化)in our world. If we find various American products worldwide, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}is also increasingly common to find Asian products in the United States.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(go) to any country in Asia nowadays, we are see many of the American icons everywhere. A few years {#blank#}3{#/blank#}when I was in Vietnam, I was{#blank#}4{#/blank#}complete) surprised at the number of advertisements about products from multinational companies, many of them American. It is unforgettable for me to see the huge coca cola billboard shown on {#blank#}5{#/blank#}unnamed long and narrow street.

    Since I moved to America, I{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(discover) many Asian products in America, from movies to food. Either in San Francisco{#blank#}7{#/blank#}in Seattle, we can go to the cinema and enjoy the{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(attract) American-Chinese movie Kung Fu Panda, and take home spring rolls from one of the many Chinese restaurants in town.

    I know that many people would like{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(reduce)the globalization process in the world because they think they are losing their own culture, but it is very difficult to stop this process. We can only try to be wise and choose {#blank#}10{#/blank#}is better for us to have or to buy.

    One day, I was comfortably waiting for my flight with a good book to read when {#blank#}1{#/blank#} elderly lady was wheeled to our waiting area. I noticed the trouble she was having {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (try) to open a packet of nuts with her shaking hands. No one else was willing to meet her gaze (目光), so I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (offer) to help. The lady was very grateful. We sat and chatted. The time came to board the plane. She could walk but needed some {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (assist), so I volunteered to help her and carry her bag.

    As I helped her get {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (settle), I noticed her “seat mate”, a businessman, looked a bit horrified at having to make the flight with her. He offered to change {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (seat) with me — and I agreed. We had a long chat. As we were entering another country we needed to fill out forms. I offered to fill {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (her) out because of her shaking hands. We landed and I needed to change planes, but I helped her first. The wheelchair she ordered was nowhere to be seen so we slowly walked to the gate {#blank#}8{#/blank#} her daughter was waiting.

    As a result, I had to run to catch my connection but, as I thought about the experience, I saw her {#blank#}9{#/blank#} my airport angel, a chance for me to hope that in the future when I'm in my eighties and traveling, someone will take the time {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (connect) with me.

    Some theme parks are not only amusing but also educational. Take the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) in Hawaii for example. It not only shows visitors the Polynesian way of life but also protects their skills{#blank#}1{#/blank#}culture for the future. Polynesian is the name{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(give) to the many groups of small islands that are spread about the Pacific Ocean.

They also tell you about their{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(society) customs and show you their cooking methods and their dances.

    Soudee, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} is a 24-year-old Frenchman, has already been at sea for two years. He {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (travel) along Africa's west coast, through the Caribbean Sea and up to the Arctic Ocean since he set sail from the Canary Islands in 2017. Soudee is {#blank#}3{#/blank#} only person on his sailboat but he brought along a pet hen with him. Soudee met Monique, the hen, on the Canary Islands shortly before he began {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (he) around-the-world voyage. He told a BBC reporter that he knew she was the one he needed.

    While planning for his trip, Soudee had considered {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (bring) along an animal for companionship (陪伴), but not {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(necessary) a chicken. Later he told the BBC reporter, "The hen is a good {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (choose). I don't have to spend much time looking {#blank#}8{#/blank#} it and I'm able to get eggs at sea."

    The story has also become popular on social media. One Twitter user wrote this week, "This hen has a(n) {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (good) life than me."
