    You can keep in touch with your friends in many ways. You can call them. You can send letters or e-mails to them. You can even use a website like Facebook to keep in touch with them.

    Touch Luck

    "Touch Luck" is used when you feel sympathy(同情) about something bad that has happened to someone. But it is also used when you don't have any sympathy for someone's problems.

    Touch Screen

    You can find touch screens everywhere now, many mobile phones and music players have touch screens. Many ATMs have them, too. They are fun and easy to use! You can use them to buy tickets or shop online.

    Touchdown

    When you watch an American football game, you will hear the word "touchdown". A touchdown happens when a player carries the ball across the other team's goal (球门) line. When a player makes a touchdown, he scores (得分) six points for his team!

    The Midas Touch

    Midas was a king(国王) in an old Greek story. He loved money very much! He wished that everything he touched would turn to gold (金子). His wish came true. Everything he touched –his furniture(家具), his food, and even his daughter-turned to gold.

    Do you wear large T-shirts and baggy jeans? Or do you like rap? If your answers are “yes”, I think you like Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is very hot now.

    Hip-Hop music started in the middle of the 1970s in New York. It is a kind of popular dance music with a regular beat (规律的节奏) and spoken words. The music, break-dancing and graffiti(涂鸦) make up Western Hip-Hop culture. Most of the Hip-Hop songs are about love, jobs or even games.

    Usually in rap, singers speak words very quickly to a certain beat. Most of the words are fun. Singers play off words to make fun of themselves or others. Hip-Hop music has few rules. Singers just do what they think and rap it out in a clever or creative way. That's why a lot of kids fall in love with the music. Many of them like wearing large T-shirts and baggy jeans. Today Hip-Hop is more and more popular across most of the world.

    Teachers help us to become good students. So we need to say thanks to them for all their hard work. Chinese students have a Teachers' Day on September 10.But how do American students thank their teachers?

    First of all, American schools have a whole week in May to appreciate(感激)their teachers! Teacher Appreciation Day is on the Tuesday of that week.

    The school hosts parties with gifts and snacks that week. There are also signs everywhere to show their love for teachers.

    American students like to give small presents to their teachers. American teachers sometimes get thank you notes from their students. Teachers also have handicrafts(手工艺品), small treats, or trinkets (小饰物)from students.

    Students shouldn't just wait for Teacher Appreciation Day. Thank your teachers all the time! It helps them do a good job.

    We live on the earth. We use the sea around us. What do we take from the ocean? And what do we give to it?

    We take fishes from the ocean—millions of kilograms of fish, every year, to feed millions of people. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}We take minerals (矿物) from the ocean. We can get salt by evaporating (蒸发) seawater. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}such as gold. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Seaweed (海草) becomes food of many kinds—even candy and ice cream—as well as medicine. Believe it or not, fresh water is another gift from the sea. We can't drink ocean water. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}But ocean water becomes fresh water when the salts are removed. In the future, we will find ourselves depending more and more on fresh water from the sea.

    The sea gives us food, fertilizer, minerals, water and other gifts. What do we give the sea? We pollute the ocean all the time. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Throwing waste into the ocean is killing off sea life. Yet as the world population grows, we may need the sea and its gifts more than ever.

    We are finally learning that if we destroy our sea, we might also destroy ourselves. Hopefully, it is not too late.
