    A 3-year-old boy who was lost in the woods for two days is now safe at home with his family. But Casey Hathaway told his rescuers(救援者) that he was not alone in the rainy, freezing cold woods. He said he was with a friend — a bear.

    The child went missing on January 22 while playing with friends near his grandmother's house in North Carolina. When the other children returned but Casey did not, the family searched the area for almost an hour before calling the police.

    Police formed a search team to look for the young boy in the nearby woods. But two days went by and — no Casey.

    Then on January 24, someone called the police saying he heard a child crying in the woods. Police followed up on the information and found Casey at about 9:30 that night. He was in good health.

    Casey told the rescuers he had hung out with a black bear for two days, a bear he called his "friend".

    The police officer Chip Hughes spoke with reporters from several news agencies. He said Casey did not say how he could survive in the woods for two days in the cold, rainy weather. "However," the police officer said, "he did say he had a friend in the woods that was a bear with him."

    Hundreds of people helped in the search and rescue efforts, including some 600 volunteers, police and members of the army. Doctors at the medical center gave Casey some examination. He was then sent to his family on January 25.

    His mother talked with reporters and thanked everyone who joined the search for her son. "We just want to tell everybody that we're very thankful that you took the time out to search for Casey," said his mother. "He is up and talking. He's already asked to watch cartoons."

After the Chengdu FISU World University Games ended, it's said that the venues(场馆)will be used for sports and public fitness.

The city had 49 venues for the events and 13 of them were newly built. Most of the old venues are located in universities and will be used for the development of sports between colleges.

While preparing for the games, Chengdu promoted the opening of the venues to the public and held sports events in them. In 2022 alone, venues were opened to the public for free or at low cost for nearly 80,000 hours. They served more than 5.09 million people, and more than 730 sporting events were held in them. These venues will continue to be used for sports and fitness.

In the short term, Chengdu will focus on opening venues to benefit its residents(居民). It can also meet their growing needs for sports and fitness to improve their health.

The athletes' village will also remain. During the games, it provided many services for athletes from more than 110 countries. After the games ended, all of the village's facilities(设施) will be under the control of Chengdu University, where the village is located. Gong Jia, a volunteer from the university, said she was proud that the village was located in her school.

The village covers 380,000 square meters of new buildings. "All of them will be turned into teaching and living space for teachers and students at the university," she said.

 阅读下面短文, 根据括号内所给中文或首字母写出单词的正确形式(每空一词)。

 Years ago, Neil Ansell lived in a house in the Welsh mountains. He didn't have a phone, and in the five years he lived there alone, not a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (单个) person walked by.

 When he returned to society, Ansell had to change on his own to make him suitable for the new situation. "What I found difficult was the amount of talking. " Ansell said, "and a{#blank#}2{#/blank#} thing I noticed was that I started to lose my sense of who am I. "

 Could social distancing influence our social skills? In fact, the question isn't only about how many people you can reach out to. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(而不是), it's about how you consider your situation. "Solitude"(独处) involves being alone without being lonely, just like Ansell. But" loneliness" is a very different situation, in which a person wants more social connection.

 However, it s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} that escaping from society might lead to some unexpected results. For example, people who feel lonely are usually more likely to make social mistakes — such as saying the w{#blank#}5{#/blank#} thing.

 Teenagers with a preference for spending time alone might have poorer social skills. And research has shown that, while some people might think that they prefer being alone, in fact, they enjoy connecting with others, even with total {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(陌生人).

 Maybe we need social practice. Communicating with others teaches us to feel valued and helps us to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (正确) understand others, which helps us to have more positive social experiences.

 请把左栏五位学生的困惑和右栏的建议进行匹配。

My mum didn't agree to buy another model racing car for me. She said it would be a waste of money. I am angry with her. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

I want a pair of basketball shoes for my training. But I don't want to ask my parents for money. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

I get as much pocket money as my sister each month. But my money runs out much more quickly than hers. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

I think I can spend all my lucky money. But my father doesn't allow me to. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

My mum wants me to do the weekly shopping for our family. But I don't know how to spend money wisely. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. You can makc a shopping list first. And you may go to different supermarkets to compare prices before you make a decision.

B. You should understand your mum. A model car is not a must. Parents know more about the value of money as they work hard to suppor the family.

C. Write down your daily spending of the pocket money in a notebook. This may help you avoid unnecessary spending.

D. You can learn numbers first. For example, you can count coins and banknotes with your parents.

E. Maybe you can have a yard sale to get money for your shoes. There must be things you don't need any more like old toys or magazines.

F. I agree with your father. You can keep part of your lucky money in a bank instead of using it up. This can help you save money for the future.

G. You can invite someone working in a bank to your club to give a talk. In this way, you can know more about how banks work.

Many people around the world can speak more than one language. Some people spend many years learning a language, but they may not be able to speak it fluently(流利地). I can speak both English and French well. Why can I speak two languages fluently?

For me, learning languages is a pleasure. I like to communicate with people very much, because I can get to know different people's thinking ways and make more friends. Even when my English was poor, I could show myself through my body language to make foreign people understand me. I didn't like memorizing(记忆) words at first just because I thought it was very boring. Even later, I was tired of learning English. But after my first trip abroad with my parents, I began to understand the importance of learning another language. Then I changed my attitude (态度) and found an interesting way to memorize words.

To learn a language well, I made a study plan. In this way, I formed a good study habit(习惯) after a year. Also, make time to practise. Practice makes perfect, so try to practise as much as possible. For example, listen to news in foreign languages while doing something. The most important thing about language learning is to keep practising.

I think you will be better in the future.

任务⒈阅读短文,回答问题。

①Which languages can the writer speak?

The writer can speak {#blank#}1{#/blank#} .

②What is the most important thing about language learning according to the writer?

The most important thing is to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

任务⒉再次阅读以上短文,补全概要。

The writer shares some ways he can{#blank#}3{#/blank#} . First of all, take language learning as  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . Put interest in it. Secondly, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and follow it. Then he formed a good study habit. Finally, practise a lot. As the saying goes, "{#blank#}6{#/blank#}." So, you can try to practise at any time.
