The salmon (大马哈鱼) is a very strange fish. It is born in a river. But the young salmon takes two years to swim down the rivers towards the Pacific Ocean. Then it returns to the river where it was born. A grown-up salmon weighs about 25 pounds and is nearly three feet long. When it is almost time to lay eggs, both male and female salmons begin a great journey. Each salmon is heading for the river where it was born. A salmon may be a thousand miles from where its life began. Yet it is able to return to that place.

The salmons are food for some other fish. Some are caught by fishermen. The salmons that are left keep swimming. After they enter the rivers, they head upstream(向上游). If rocks and waterfalls are in their way, the salmons leap(跳) over them. It leaps by swimming at full speed under water, then rising to the surface. Almost the whole body of a salmon is made of muscles. It is these powerful muscles that make the salmon fit for fast swimming, quick turning, and high leaping out of the water.

Some salmons reach the river in summer, others in the early autumn.

A.  As the salmons swim, larger fish attack them.

B.   For another two years it lives in the sea and becomes full grown.

C.  They have swum hundreds, even thousands of miles to return.

D.  The female salmon will not lay eggs in the Pacific Ocean.

E.   A salmon can leap up a fall as high as 10 feet.

The world's first “flying car” will soon appear in the market — It will be yours for just £127,000.

The Terrafugia Transition is a light sport plane with four wheels (轮子) and foldable (可折叠的)wings. It can fly up through the skies just like a regular plane, then land on the ground, fold up its two wings and drive down the road at highway speeds.

It is 19 feet long and can fly a distance (距离) of 460 miles, with a top speed of 115mph in the air and 60mph on the highway. According to early reports, the plane uses common gas — no rocket fuels (燃料) are necessary. It gets its power through the 100 horsepower four — stroke Rotax 912S engine(发动机).

It is about as wide as most normal cars except the folded gliders. The Terrafugia Transition can be put into most garages(车库) and drive normally on the road. A special code from a pilot's license is needed to get the wings to unfold.

Interested pilots (yes, you need to be a licensed flyer or a driver with a pilot's license (执照) to buy one) can get an order of the flying car (or the highway plane) for £6,500. It is planned to be finished towards the end of the year.

Online schools are becoming very popular with many people today. And now, even regular students are going in for online education. As it leaves them with enough time to do other things, such as a part-time job or a hobby, along with studying. However, as with everything, there are two sides about online schooling.

Let's start with the good side. Online schools cost very little. You don't have to spend money on books, or bus fees. Also, since you can work along with studying at an online schools, you would not need to take an education loan. Another benefit of going to school online is the freedom it provides. You can study wherever you want—in your house, at a cafe or even in a park. Some people who want to study further, now no longer have to take a break in their jobs, thanks to online schools.

However, those students who often need a push from their teachers to do well have a very high chance of not doing well at online schools. When studying in a class, different topics in a given subject are discussed and different students give their points of view. This is something that online schooling cannot provide.

Also, there are many employers who prefer students with a regular and traditional degree to those who have an online degree. The employers feel that students who go to full-time colleges have more knowledge compared to those who have online degrees.

In general, it can be said online schools are good for some, while others should give them up! A person should see the situation he is in and then decide whether or nor to choose an online school.

Are online schools a good idea?

The present situation

Online schools are so popular at present that some regular students also {#blank#}1{#/blank#} them.

●You spend {#blank#}2{#/blank#} money at an online school and you can work along with studying.

●You are free at online schools because you can study anytime and anywhere you want.

●If you want to accept further {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, you needn't give up your job thanks to online schools.

Disadvantages of online schooling

●Some students are likely to do badly at online schools for lack of a push from their teachers.

●Students do not have the {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to discuss with their classmates.

●After graduation, students with online degrees are not {#blank#}5{#/blank#} by many employers.

Conclusion

Whether online schools are good for you is decided by your situation.

Some people have found that they always spend much more on travelling than planned. Here is how it happens:

    ⒈Preparing too much before travelling

Some people, especially females, like to travel as if starting a new life. Several weeks before the trip, they would be busy shopping for new dresses, better sunglasses and best-selling books. They would rather fill their travelling bags up with all fashionable things. Just travelling? It's more like attending a fashion show. They care more about their appearance than the sights they see during the trip.

    ⒉Following other travellers blindly.

They can't stop shopping for objects they would never normally buy and would certainly never use. For example, we can find a group of travellers" getting ahead" to buy "Christmas" presents even in summer.

⒊Replacing things that are forgotten to bring.

They forget to bring things like trainers, cool bags, toothbrushes or beach towels. The towels sold near beaches are nearly the price of gold leaves. They spend a lot on those things. However, plenty of new towels are sleeping in their bathroom at home.

People usually find themselves poorer than they planed after a holiday trip. There are mainly three {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Firstly, some female travellers consider a journey as attending a fashion show. How they look seems more {#blank#}2{#/blank#} than what they see, so they spend more money on something new. Secondly, some people follow others without {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. When others do some shopping, they can't {#blank#}4{#/blank#} themselves. Thirdly, goods for daily use at tourist attractions aren't as {#blank#}5{#/blank#} as those back home. As a result, they may spend more than they thought.
