Last Sunday afternoon, I was having dinner in a restaurant when my friend Poor came in. Poor is working in a bank and is quite rich, but he is always borrowing money from his friends and never pays it back. Poor saw me and came to sit at my table. He had never borrowed any money from me. When he was eating, I asked him to lend me two dollars. To my surprise, he gave me the money at once.“I have never borrowed any money from you,”Poor said,“So you can pay for my dinner.”

    One day, a mother crocodile (鳄鱼) and a baby crocodile swam slowly in a river. Suddenly, the mother crocodile saw a monkey, "Oh, a monkey! How nice if I have it for dinner!"

    "My son, can you go and get the monkey for me? I want to eat his heart (心脏)," the mother crocodile said.

    "All right," the baby crocodile answered.

    The baby crocodile swam near the river bank (岸). He shouted at the monkey, “Hey, monkey！Would you like some bananas? There are many banana trees on the other bank of the river"

    "I like them very much. But I can't swim. How can I get there?" the monkey asked.

    "Oh, I can take you there," the baby crocodile said.

    "Really? Thank you very much!" the monkey jumped onto the baby crocodile's back. In the middle of the river, the baby crocodile went into the water. When he came up again, the monkey was wet all over. "Don't do that again, or you'll kill (杀死) me!" the monkey shouted.

    "I know, but I must do that! My mother wants to eat your heart."

    "My heart? 你为什么不早点告诉我? I left it in a tree. We should go back for it!" So_ they went back.

    As soon as they got to the bank, the monkey picked up a big stone (石头) and climbed up onto the tree quickly. He shouted at the baby crocodile, "Don't you want my heart? Well, catch!" The monkey threw the big stone at the crocodile.

    As Sam slowly woke, he got a funny feeling in his stomach. He knew he would have to do something that he had been afraid to do for a long time.The school bus came on time, and he sat with his friend, Billy. They chatted about baseball. It was a great way to get his mind off what he had to do later. As they got close to the school, he could feel his heart beating. His hands were starting to sweat. He hated this!

    He entered Mrs. Owen's class. She was smiling, and saying hello to all her students as she did every morning.

    "Hi, Sam!" she said as he walked in."Hi," he said and quickly sat in his seat. Then the class began to take their spelling test. He looked at the clock. The time was near. He hoped he was not first! Mrs. Owens said it was time to begin their special day."Sam, you'll be first." Mrs. Owens said to the class, "Sam has worked very hard on his report on Hawaii, and I know it is very interesting."

    Sam nervously greeted his class. Then, he thought about the fun things he had read about surfing, volcanoes, and pineapples in Hawaii, and he started to talk. He talked in front of the whole class, and it was fun. The class clapped as he finished and Mrs. Owens was smiling. It wasn't terrible at all and he knew he would do better the next time.

Father gives all for daughter

    One day, an 11-year-old girl asked her dad, "What are you going to get me for my 15th birthday."

    The father replied, "Don't worry about that. You still have lots of time."

    But on a day after her 14th birthday, she passed out and was rushed to the hospital.

    The family learned that the girl had a serious heart disease (疾病)and that she might die.

    At night, she asked her dad "Daddy, have they told you that I am going to die."

    The father replied. "No, you will live as long as anyone else."

    She was surprised. "How can you be sure?"

    He turned to her and said, "I just know it."

    After the girl turned15, he had a heart transplant(心胜移植手术). After recovering(恢复), she came home to find a letter on her bed.

    It said, "My dearest daughter, if you are reading this, it means that everything went as I told you it would. One day you asked me what I would give you for your 15th birthday. I wasn't sure then. But now you know that my gift to you is my heart. "The father had donated(捐赠) his heart to his daughter.

    Parents are selfless（无私的). They often make great sacrifices(牺牲) to make their children happy. Keep this in mind when you feel angry toward your parents. They're just what they think is best for you.
