When I was about 12 years old, I really wanted a new bike! I told my parents my birthday wish, but I knew there was little hope because my family could1have that money.

I 6 the old bike and rode it, feeling7that I had made my parents feel this way. So I put on a smile, rode as fast as I could and didn't look back...

As time went by, I began to understand my parents gave me 8 much more than just a rusty(生锈的)old bike. They gave me a life lesson about9. When you give something out of love, it doesn't matter what it is in fact. What matters is the love in it. I like to remember this story because giving a gift is not about money. It was a fine day. People at the railway station were waiting for the train to arrive. The train was coming in. Everyone waited there to get into the train. A group of young men made loud noises to welcome the train. The empty seats were nearly filled and the train was ready to move. Just then,an old man with a little boy of 10 years old came running to catch the train. As soon as they entered the train,the train started to move. They had their seats just next to the young group.

The little boy was so surprised to see everything. "Dad,the train is moving and the things are moving backwards out of the window!"he shouted to his father. A fruit seller went past selling apples. His father bought him some apples. "Oh,the apple looks much sweeter than it tastes,"the little boy said. "Is your son having any problem?Why is he so different?"one of the young men asked. Another young man made fun of him. "His son is mad,I think!"he shouted. "My son was born blind. Only a few days ago,he had an operation. It is the first time that he has seen things in his life,"the father of the little boy replied with patience(耐心地). The young group became very quiet and said sorry to the father and the son.

"Then you should 3 me about that. " she said. "When someone does something nice for you, you should thank him. If you don't, he might think you are not 4 and stop doing those nice things. "

From then on, I 5 said "thank you" to others. It soon became a habit and something magic(神奇的)6 happening. In my first year of high school, during the final week, I came home and 7 some snacks (点心) on the table. "Thanks, Mom. "I said. "They aren't from me. " Mom said. "They're from your bus driver. " Guess what? He has driven that bus for years. I was the first per- son to ever thank him as we 8 . The two words made such a big 9 that he went out of his way and gave me the present.
