I sat with my friend in a well-known coffee shop in a town of Italy.

  As we enjoyed our coffee, a man entered and sat beside us. He called the waiter over, saying, ”Two cups of coffee, one of them there on the1”

    We heard his order with2 and noticed that he was served one cup of coffee 3he paid for two.

    When he left, the waiter put a piece of paper on the wall saying "A Cup of Coffee".

    While we were still there, two other men entered and 4three cups of coffee , two on the table and one on the wall. They had two but paid for 5 .  This time also, the waiter did the same thing.  It was  6  unusual for us.

    After a few days, we had a chance to enter this coffee shop again. While we were enjoying our coffee, a man  7  appeared homeless entered. He looked at the wall and said, "One cup of coffee from the wall."

    The waiter served a cup of coffee to this man with 8 The man had his coffee and left without    9  . We were amazed to watch all of this as the waiter   10 a piece of paper off the wall and threw it into the bin.

Now it was no surprise for us—the matter was very 11 . The people of this town showed great respect for those people who needed help.

It was on Apri1 10. Kwan was excited. The newspaper was 1 a writing contest(比赛). The winner's story would be printed in the newspaper!“It says to write about someone2 you think is a hero,” Kwan said. “I will write about my favorite soccer player. He's 3 hero.”

 Kwan's sister, Cho, asked,“Can I enter the contest?”

“No. You're too little,” Kwan said.“You won't win." He4his soccer ball and went outside.

    An old friend from the US whom I was looking forward to staying with telephoned from the airport to tell me that he had arrived.     In order to reduce the stress on the students, Nanjing No. 1 High School has1a "mark bank". The bank lets students "borrow" marks2they can pass exams, and then repay them in later tests.

    Here's3it works: The "mark bank" allows students to4marks if they fail the exam. But, just like real banks, it requires "clients (客户)" to pay back the loan (贷款) on time, with interest (利息).  So students have to pay for the loan by getting extra marks in future exams. Some teachers also allow the students to repay the bank5doing lab experiments or giving public speeches. Students who don't pay back their loans are blacklisted (列入黑名单) by the bank, just like in real life.

    "I was sick before the mid-term exams and missed several geography classes," one student said, "I failed the exam, so I am glad the 'mark bank' gave me a 6to pass the exam."

    7many people think the "mark bank" is a great idea, not8supports the idea.  Education expert Xiong Bingqi, for example, believes9the "mark bank" is not proper, but thinks that it takes stress off the students.  Others think that such an idea just causes students to be10in their studies.

    One day, the students of Class 6 were reading in the classroom. Mrs. Brown came in and told the whole class that they would have to change a 1 in March. The naughtiest(调皮的) class in the grade could not 2 it. The pupils all disagreed with the decision, so they shouted when Mrs.

    Brown said it was because a new pupil would be3 the class. The class was in disorder. (杂乱地) "Why must we move to another classroom just because someone new is coming?".
