"Never give up!" It is my law(法则) of life. It has brought me 1. I learned the law from my father's 2 story.

    My father was 3 in a poor village in the north of Jiangsu, in China. When he was a young boy, he went to school in the morning, then 4 in the fields till sunset. And then he did his homework 5 midnight. Life was hard, because they had no 6!

    At the age of 14, my father heard of the United States of America. It was the land of gold, the land where 7 people can become rich.

    "8 don't I go to America?" he thought to himself, full of hope.

    So my father came to America. “I had thought it was easy to 9 money in America," he told me. "But when I arrived there, I realized it was not true.  They did not like to hire (雇佣) me because I spoke 10 English. Later, I worked in a small restaurant, cleaning up tables, 11 dishes and sweeping the floor. Life was 12 for the first few years. I worked from 10 a.m. to 11 p. m. I wanted to go to school to learn English, but it was impossible. I couldn't  13 the schooling (学费). "

    My father 14 working hard, and reached his goal.

    "Alan," he often says to me. "If you want something, you have to work for it and never give up. Things do not come 15 in life." That is what I learned from my father.

    Mrs. Yuan is a writer. She's 1 and often helps the poor person. It was very cold one snowy morning. On the way to her office, she saw an old man 2 on the ground. She came to him and help him to 3 and bought some porridge and bread for him. The old man ate up the food quickly and  4 her very much. Then she asked. “Where do you live, Grandpa?”

     “I have no  5  madam,” said the old man. “ I have to sleep outside 6.”

     “How old are you?” “Ninety-two.” Mrs Yuan became 7 and went on asking, “Why not live in the old people's house?”  8 I have a son,” said the old man. “they've 9 admitted(接纳) a person who has children.”

     “Do you have any children?”

     “Yes,” answered the old man. “I have a son.”

     “Where is your son, then?”

     “He has no children, 10 the old people's house admitted him.”

     “It's unfair!” said Mrs. Yuan. She overcame several difficulties and at last helped him to live in the old people's house.

Three years ago, a story happened in Japan. At that time Mike and Ben were taking a holiday on the beach. The two good friends had a fight. Mike hit Ben on the face. Ben was hurt but he said nothing. He only wrote in the sand, "Today my best friend hit me on the face."

After that, they took a taxi back to their hotel. After dinner, Ben started to read in bed. Mike went for a walk in the park near the hotel. Suddenly, an earthquake happened. The small hotel fell down and Ben was under the hotel. Mike saved him. After Ben was out of danger, he wrote on a stone, "Today my best friend saved my life."

Mike asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?" Ben answered, "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in the sand, and then the wind can blow it away. When someone helps us, we must carve (雕刻) it in the stone, then the wind can't blow it away."

My aunt Nancy is a truck driver. When she left school, she didn't know what she wanted to do, so she went to work in a supermarket. One day, she was talking to one of the truck drivers at the supermarket, and she got the idea to drive a truck herself. She went home and told her parents (my grandparents！), and they thought it was a good idea.

Nancy's journeys are different every day, and she goes to every part of the country. She enjoys the driving, but she says that one day, she would like to get a job with a different company(公司) so that she can drive to more places.

Nancy says she likes being out on the road, seeing new towns all the time, but the best thing about driving trucks for her is talking to everyone she sees during her working day. She also says the trucks are comfortable, so she doesn't mind sleeping in them. For her, they are her home on wheels!

I asked my grandparents what they thought about Nancy's job. They are happy that Nancy is happy, so they don't want her to change jobs. But they worry about her because it's sometimes a dangerous job and she spends a lot of time away from home.

I'm writing to you because I want a pen friend. I can share my1 with you and get to know   yours! I live in a village on Sark. Sark is a very 2 island(岛). You can ride a horse and get around the island in just an hour. Only 562 people live on Sark. I'm3 here because my family and my friends are with me. I love school too. There's only one 4 on Sark. Here my classmates and teachers are all very nice. We don't often play sports like 5 or basketball because there aren't many people to make teams. Beaches here are always 6 as we never leave things here and there on the beaches. There is a library 7 there aren't any shopping centres on the island. We have to go by boat for an hour to other places to8 things! On Sark, there aren't any cars on the road. We ride our bikes everywhere. I love this small island and I want to make friends from other places too. I know New York is a big 9 . Do you like living there? Also, would you like to send some10 of it to me? In this way, I can know what your life looks like there. Please email me soon.
