Someday in the future we may not need to have money in our pockets. Is life easier when people don't need to carry any money at all? Is money heavy tocarry? Is it safe to carry money? Maybe in the future each of us will have onlyone small credit card(信用卡). We will use it instead of money to buy all the things. 

    Of course we may still have some of the same problems with cards we nowhave with money. For example, we lose money from time to time. Maybe we willlose the cards. Maybe someone will take the cards. Someone may even make a card that looks like our cards. Since we can't buy anything without our cards, the credit cards may be no better than money.

    Is there something easier to use than credit cards? Each of us has athumbprint(拇指指纹). No two thumbprints are the same. Maybe someday the government will keep people's thumbprints with a number. When you want to buy something, you will put your thumb on a machine or a computer. Each store or business will possesone. Everyone's thumbprints will be in the computer. It will be difficult to lose our thumbprints! It will be difficult for someone to steal it or to make one like it.

I live in a beautiful city. Many visitors come to my city. There are so many colorful peacocks (孔雀)here.

    The peacocks mostly (主要）live on the grassland of Dongfeng Square. Visitors can give them food freely. They usually throw food to them, and don't think about at all whether the food is right or not. Some of the peacocks became ill. Some even died after eating the bad food.

    I'm sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds, but they don't realize that they may be doing any harm.

    We should tell the visitors that what they have done is very harmful to the birds, and we also must stop this kind of thing from happening.

    Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food. For every one of us, it's our duty to give more love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully.

    Have you ever heard someone use the phrase"once in a blue moon"？People use this expression to describe something that they do not do very often．For example，someone might say that he tries to avoid eating sweets because they are unhealthy，but will eat chocolate"once in a blue moon"．Or someone who does not usually like to go to the beach might say"I visit the shore once in a blue moon．"While many people use this phrase，not everyone knows the meaning behind it．

    The first thing to know is that the moon itself is never really blue．This is just an expression．In fact，the phrase"blue moon"has to do with the shape of the moon，not the color．

    As the moon travels around the earth，it appears to change shape．We connect names with certain shapes of the moon．For example，when we can see a small part of the moon，it is called a crescent moon．A crescent is a shape that looks like the tip of a fingernail（指甲尖）．When we cannot see the moon at all，it is called a new moon．When we can see the whole moon，it is called a full moon．Usually，there is only one full moon every month．Sometimes，however，there are two full moons in one month．When this happens，the second full moon is called"a blue moon"．

    A myth is something that is not correct, but many people believe. There are a lot of myths about the human brain.

    One of the biggest myths is that we only use 10 percent of our brains. The next part of the myth is that if we can learn to use the rest of our brains, then we'll be much smarter. People say this all the time, but it's absolutely not true! The truth is that although we don't know everything about the human brain, we know that each part of it has an important function (功能). Modern scientists think the "10 percent myth" ridiculous(荒谬的).

    The other most popular myth is about being "right brained" or "left brained". According to this myth, people who use the right side of their brains are more artistic and creative. People who use the left side of their brains are better at math and science. This is as popular as the 10 percent myth, and it's also wrong. In 2013, a study at an American university examined the right brain and left brain myth. According to the study, we use both sides of our brains equally (相等地).

    It's true that we use different parts of our brains for different things. We use our left side for language more, and our right side when we need to pay attention. But there is no evidence (证据) that creative people use the right side more, or that scientific people use the left side more.

    We've talked about myths, so let's look at a few interesting facts about the brain. First of all, the brain feels no pain. Second, about 75 percent of the brain is made of water. It's also the fattest organ in your body. Here's another interesting fact about the brain. Around the time you turn 18 years old, it stops growing.

    Robots come in many shapes and sizes. But most have one thing in common. They are built to help people, Lately engineers have been developing new kinds of robots. These high-tech machines are designed to lend a hand everywhere from hotels to disaster areas.

    Since November, a robot named Pepper has been on the job at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. When guests have questions or need directions, they can ask Pepper. They can also use the robot's touch screen to find the information they need. Pepper is able to talk with guests and make them happy with stories too. It can even tell what kind of mood they are in.

    "Pepper provides our guests with information in an exciting and new way." says the hotel manager Donald Bowman.

    For a kid, being in the hospital can be boring and even scary. But a small robot called NAO is helping to make hospital stays easier. It was designed to keep people company.

    A Tennessee doctor named Phil Parker bought a NAO robot three years ago. He programmed(为…….编制程序)it to talk to and play with young patients. He brought it to hospitals to help sick kids. When kids get medical tests, NAO explains what is going on. The robot also reads to kids and plays games with them like Rock, Scissors ,Cloth(石头剪刀布).

    "The robot gets many kids to smile for the first time since they were in hospital," Parker says.

    Other robots are designed to help to save people in dangerous areas. For example, disaster areas can be full of broken stones and other dangers. Engineers in Japan are planning to build a robot called E2-DR to go into those areas and search for people who are hurt.
