“Where is the university?” This is a question that many visitors to Cambridge(剑桥) ask. But no one can give {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a clear answer, for there is no wall to be found {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  the university. The university is the city. You can find classroom buildings, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} , museums and offices of the university all over the city. And most of its members are the students and{#blank#}4{#/blank#} of the thirty-one colleges.
    Cambridge was already a developing(发展中的) town long before the first students and teachers arrived 800 years ago. It grew up by the river Granta, and the river was once{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Cam. A {#blank#}6{#/blank#} was built over the river as early as 875. So the town got its name “Cambridge”.
In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries(世纪) more and more land was used for college buildings. The town grew much {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  in the nineteenth century after the opening of the railway in 1845. Cambridge became a{#blank#}8{#/blank#}  in 1951 and now it has a population(人口) of over 100,000. Many young students in other countries {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to study at Cambridge. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  of people from all over the world come to visit the university town. It has become a famous place all around the world.

    Hello, my name is Wang Na. My birthday is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} September 12th. And it's my {#blank#}2{#/blank#} birthday today. In the morning, my {#blank#}3{#/blank#} take me to the clothes store and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a red skirt for me. The skirt is very {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and I like it very much.     Overhead bridges are found in many parts of Lanzhou, especially in places where traffic is heavy and crossing the road is very {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    The purpose of these overhead bridges is to enable passengers to cross the road {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Overhead bridges are used in the same way as zebra crossings. They are more efficient {#blank#}3{#/blank#} less convenient because people have to climb up a long flight of steps. This is inconvenient, especially to old people. When passengers are {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a zebra crossing, traffic is held up. This is why the government has built many overhead bridges to help passengers and to keep traffic moving {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the same time.

    The government of Lanzhou has {#blank#}6{#/blank#} lots of money in building these bridges. For their own safety, passengers {#blank#}7{#/blank#} be encouraged to use them instead of risking their lives by running across the road. Old people, however, may find {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a little difficult to climb up and down the steps, but it is still {#blank#}9{#/blank#} safer than walking across the road.

    Overhead bridges serve a very useful purpose. Passengers, both old and young, should make a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} of using them. This will prevent unnecessary accidents and loss of life.
