广东省深圳市南山区育才三中2018-2019学年七年级上学期英语期中考试试卷
During the past two weeks we asked students of all ages about their favorite activities. Our survey (调查) showed that most students spent a lot of time watching TV, chatting on the Internet and playing computer games. It also showed that students had lots of different ways of having fun. Here's what the students said:
"I love watching old romantic movies, I sometimes invite my friends around and we watch movies together. We eat popcorn and relax. I also go skating every week. It is a great way to keep fit." Jenny (aged 14).
"I love playing my drums. I would love to be in a band. I enjoy skateboarding and playing basketball with my friends. Sometimes we go to watch football or basketball matches. Ben (aged 13).
"At the moment I am spending a lot of my spare time designing and making my own clothes. I love art and my dream is to be a designer. I like lots of sports but my favorite is judo." Nisha (aged 15).
"I am helping my grandfather to find out about our family history. We are using the Internet and old records to find things out. It's really cool. I'm not very sporty but I love motorcycles." Tony (aged 15).
Have you ever tried to hide your emotions from someone during a conversation? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Scientists from the Ohio State University have found that people are able to tell other people' s emotions according to the changes in the color of their faces.
Scientists studied pictures of people' s facial expressions. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} For example, happiness makes our faces red around the checks and a little blue around the chin. Disgust(厌恶) creates not only a blue-yellow color around the lips, but also a red-green color around the nose and forehead. " We believe these color patterns are the result of small changes in blood flow triggered(触发) by the central nervous(神经) system." Lead researcher Alex Nartime said.
{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Does the color alone or also facial expressions help people tell others' emotions? To figure this out, scientists added color patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial expressions. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} They were able to tell the emotions 75 percent of the time without any difficulty.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#} For example, when two people are heatedly arguing over something, we say they are red in the face. When a person is very angry, we say he or she is blue in the face.
A. But this raises a question. B. They found that every facial expression is connected to a certain color. C. It' s not always easy because the color on your face may tell the truth. D. Then, volunteers were asked to tell what emotions the faces were showing. E. This is why there are some Chinese sayings that connect emotions to the color of one' s face. |
