冀教版初中英语八年级下册Unit 2 Lesson 8 Why are plants important? 同步练习
Plants are very important. Plants can make food from air, water and sunlight. Animals and man cannot make food from air, water and sunlight. Animals can get their food by eating plants and other animals. Man gets his food by eating plants and animals, too. So animals and man need plants in order to live. This is why there are so many plants around us.
There are two kinds of plants: flowering plants and nonflowering plants. Almost all the trees around us are flowering plants. You can know some trees from their flowers and fruit. Nonflowering plants do not grow flowers. You can not see many nonflowering plants around you.
If you look carefully at the plants around you, you will find that there are many kinds of plants. Some plants are large and some are small. Most of them are green. Thanks to the plants around us, we can live on earth.
Earthquakes often happen and you may hear about the earthquake in Songyuan of Jilin Province these days. So we must know some advice about protecting ourselves.
⑴You should do earthquake practice and teach your children about earthquake safety. Everyone in the family should do some earthquake practice often. It's very important. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}
⑵It's necessary to prepare yourself and your family. All family members should know how to turn off gas, water and electricity and know useful telephone numbers(120, 110, 119, etc) {#blank#}2{#/blank#}
⑶If you are indoors, quickly move to a safe place in the room such as under a strong desk or a strong table. The purpose is to protect yourself from falling objects. Stay away from windows, large mirrors and so on. If you are cooking, turn off the gas. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}
⑷If you are outdoors, move to an open area like a playground. Move away from buildings, bridges and trees. If you are driving, stop the car as soon as possible, stay away from bridges and tall buildings. Stay in your car. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
⑸Once the shaking has stopped, DO NOT run out of the buildings at once. It's better to wait and leave when it is safe. If your building is badly broken, you should leave it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Having a pen pal is fun and can be a great way to improve your writing skills. But most people have trouble knowing what to write to their pen pals. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}
{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Break the ice by telling your pen pal a little about yourself. Start with your name, age and job. Write about what you like to do or what's on your mind that day. What you pass on will encourage your pen pal to tell you something about this. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}
Ask questions. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} This will help you get to know him and probably get you a faster answer. Make your questions into the e-mail by telling him something you like to do and then asking if he's ever tried it.
Ask for advice. You may have some difficulties in your life and want to ask for advice. Your pen pal may tell you what to do.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Also, discussing real-world questions will promote(促进) your friendship.
It may take a long time for some people to learn to speak English. However, by following these tips(实用的提示) you should be speaking English in no time.
Tip I: Forget about having a large vocabulary. Only learn the words you will need most. For example, if you are traveling in an English-speaking country, make a list of all the possible sentences and questions that you would need to know, such as "Do you know where the nearest bathroom is? "and" I am lost. Can you help me?" Think about what sentences you would want a traveler to know if they came to your country and couldn't speak your language.
Tip 2: Once you have a list of vocabulary that you think will be most useful to you, make sure you understand the meaning of each word and know how to use each word in a sentence. Try making lists with new words and sample sentences(例句). Ten new words is enough on each list. Then stick(粘贴)the lists up all over your house where you can easily see them. Practice every day. Whenever you see a list, make sure you stop and read through it.
Tip 3: Now pronounce these words and sentences properly. Try to learn pronunciation by listening to how English speakers pronounce words. Watch English TV shows, listen to English radio programs and try to talk with as many English speakers as you can, online or in person.
I wish you the best of luck and I hope my tips are helpful!

"But, doctor," Mr Smith said," I don't think so."

"But I walk every day," Mr Smith said.
"Oh, yes, and I know what kind of walking that is. You walk a few meters to the bus stop from your house, a few more meters from the bus stop to your office, and a few more meters from your office to your dining—room for lunch and back. That's not a real walk. I'm talking about a walk in the park or by the lake for twenty minutes every day."
"Would you please listen to me, doctor? Mr Smith said, getting a little angry with his doctor.
"I'm a postman," Mr Smith went on," and I walk for nearly(几乎)seven hours every day."
For a moment the doctor was silent(沉默的), then he said quietly," Put out your tongue again, will you?
