I've dreamed of becoming a writer since I was a teenager. But {#blank#}1{#/blank#} isn't easy to get a book of mine published. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I've tried hard, none of my books have been published. This is really {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (upset).

    This morning, I received a call from a publisher and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (tell) once again that there was no way my book would be published. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (feel) sad, I left home and went to the park near my apartment. At the park, I sat down on the bench near the grass.

    While I was sitting there, I saw a little boy about one and a half years old. He was running on the grass, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} his mother not far behind him. He looked so happy when he enjoyed the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (free) of running on the grass. He then fell on the grass, but he quickly got up and continued {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (run) as fast as he could again even without looking back at his mother. He was still running with a smile on his face, as if nothing {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (happen).

    Seeing that, I was truly inspired. I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (sudden) realized that I shouldn't get discouraged after experiencing failure. Instead, I should cheer up and keep on trying.

    I can well remember that I was once asked to deliver a speech titled “A Real Test in My Life” before the whole class at the age of 9! You can imagine how {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (terrible) shy I was with so many eyes {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(fix) upon me. I had no {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(choose) but to prepare for it, though. First of all, I was to draft the speech, which was just a piece of cake for me, a good writer. But the hardest part {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(lie) in my oral presentation from my memory— for to read from the paper was not allowed. The real moment began {#blank#}5{#/blank#} I stood on the platform with my legs trembling and my mind blank. But my listeners were waiting patiently without any signs of rushing me. Otherwise, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(run) away from them. Gradually I found myself back, delivering my speech with difficulty. After what seemed to be a hundred years, I found my audience applauding— I made {#blank#}7{#/blank#}! From then on, my fear of talking before an audience disappeared. Actually with my {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(confident) building up, I now turn out to be a great speaker. Looking back, I know the greatest difficulty on our way {#blank#}9{#/blank#} success is our fear. Overcome it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} we will be able to achieve our goals.

    Zac Sunderland is an American who was born in 1991. On July 16^th, 2009 Zac sailed (航行) back to Marina del Rey, California where he had left over a year before. As soon as he arrived, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (become) the youngest person in history to sail alone around the world. In order to get the amazing {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (achieve), Zac solved lots of problems.

    When something broke on his boat, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (thousand) of miles out to sea, Zac had to repair it all by {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (he). Fresh food doesn't last long, so he got used to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (eat) freeze-dried meals and canned food. And he felt lonely.

    Zac's experiences at sea were not all difficult or miserable(痛苦的). He got {#blank#}6{#/blank#}chances of seeing a night sky more shining than you have ever seen from land, watching {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (beauty) sunrises and sunsets and meeting different marine(海中的) life.

    Zac sailed alone but not non-stop. He made stops along the way {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (add) some more food and fuel. During those stops, he met people from different cultures. His father met him during many of his stops, took him out {#blank#}9{#/blank#} an excellent meal and helped repair the boat {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (frequent).

    Dujiangyan is the oldest man-made water system in the world, and a wonder in the development of Chinese science.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(build) over 2, 200 years ago in what is now Sichuan Province in Southwest China, this amazing engineering{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(achieve) is still used today.

    In ancient times, the region in which Dujiangyan now stands{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(suffer) from regular floods caused by overflow from the Minjiang River.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(help) the victims of the flooding, Li Bing, the region governor, together with his son, decided to find a solution. Li designed a series of channels built at different levels along Mount Yulei that would take away the floodwater while leaving the river flowing naturally. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(good) still, the extra water could be directed to the dry Chengdu Plain, making {#blank#}6{#/blank#}suitable for farming.

    Once the system was finished, no more floods occurred and the people were able to live {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (peaceful). Today, Dujiangyan is admired by scientists from around the world because of one feature. Unlike modern dams{#blank#}8{#/blank#} the water is blocked with a huge wall, Dujiangyan still lets water flow through the Minjiang River naturally,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (enable) ecosystem(生态系统) and fish populations to exist {#blank#}10{#/blank#}harmony.

    It's common to see food delivery workers riding electric bikes in a hurry through big cities in China. Some of them even risk {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (run) red lights to deliver their meals in time. However, such careless behavior often causes serious problems.

    The reason for the rise of such a careless behavior is that there is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} large demand for food delivery workers, and many companies offer high salaries {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(attract) new workers.

    In fact, food delivery workers are often under high {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(press) from their employers. They face company fines for delivering food late.     While most companies require delivery workers to follow traffic rules, it remains a problem whether these requirements and rules are {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(strict) obeyed

    To solve the problem, some cities {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(take) action since last year. Shanghai required the delivery workers should{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(train) on traffic rules and safety. Now in Shenzhen, if a delivery worker gets caught breaking traffic rules more than twice, he or she will be banned {#blank#}10{#/blank#} driving food delivery vehicles for a whole year.

    There are more and more cases of drivers behaving violently towards other road{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(use).

    Research has shown that this new form of crime{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(call) road rage (路怒) is a growing worldwide problem. Road rage can happen to anyone at any time. A survey has shown that the morning rush hour appears to be{#blank#}3{#/blank#}most likely time for a road rage attack, and attackers ate most likely to be{#blank#}4{#/blank#}their 20s or 30s. Driving too close and sudden braking (刹车){#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) the biggest causes of road rage. Irresponsible drivers{#blank#}6{#/blank#}drive too close often make the driver in front {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(respond) by sudden braking.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (fortunate), most road rage incidents don't  lead to death or injury{#blank#}9{#/blank#}they can be extremely unpleasant for the victim. My advice Keep cool. If will only make things{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(bad). Mobile phones can be useful to you. You should telephone the police immediately if you feel an aggressive situation could get out of control.
