Very big spaceships and rockets were in different houses. There were kinds of cool things on show. You could join in many experiments to explore(探索)interesting things on science. The National Air and Space Museum is an excellent place to visit.

Oh, make sure you eat something before you come into the museum because the only place you can eat something here is a Boston Market fast food restaurant. The price of the food in it is very high. I had a Big Mac meal for almost $9!

Classic Is Never Gone

Every year hundreds of films are produced, yet how many are forgotten after six months? Movies come and go, as throwaway as popcorn bags left on the floor of a cinema. But of those few films that people do remember, there is one that is truly “evergreen”(常青).

Whether you are young or old, or where you are in the world, the 1939 classic Gone with the Wind never seems to become unpopular. Last year the film celebrated its 75th birthday.

The movie comes from a best-selling book of the same name by US writer Margaret Mitchell. Hollywood was soon interested in turning the novel into a movie.

The story is set in the periods before, during and after the American Civil War (1861-1865). It is about relationships between members of high-class families living in the south of America.

The Civil War period piece highly rewarded the time and effort of the filmmakers who worked on it. Over twenty years, no studio went beyond it in making the most money of any film ever made. It's the kind of movie that every studio dreams of making.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Karl: Whatever I do, I always think about if other people will laugh at me. How can I stop worrying about what they think?

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Jeff: My dream is to be a professuonal athlete. My dad thinks I started too late and I'll never be able to make it. He puts me down, but I want his support. What should I do?

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Ashley:What should I do if I failed a test? I'm afraid to tell my mom because she might get mad at me and I can't play soccer. And soccer is like the world to me.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}Jessica: I just moved and I'm kind of shy, so how do I make new friends?

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Lynn: I have some trouble in communicating with my parents. We have  different ideas on many things.

A. It's better to tell your mom the truth than for her to find out another way. When you tell her, explain why you failed the test. Ask her if she can help you study in the future, so you'll do better on your tests and also have time for the soccer you love.

B. Just be yourself and try not to care about what others think. The more you think about it, the worse you will feel. Always act strong and confident. Even if you are a little unsure of something, don't doubt (怀疑) your abilities to do things right. Just relax.

C. You should tell him about your dream and that if you work really hard, it might happen even though you started late. The sooner you tell your dad how you feel, the sooner you'll be able to work on making your dream come true.

D. You should take some exercise to prepare for the Olympic team.

E. Nobody knows you at your new school. You have nothing to lose, so gather up all your courage and go over to someone who looks friendly and introduce yourself. You can ask that person about your teacher or the other kids in your class to break the ice. Good luck!

F. I think you should be patient to listen to what your parents said. Because they have more experience than you. Their suggestions are good to you.

G. You can make a speech in front of a mirror every day, and it will make you more confident to give a speech one day.

Have you ever ridden a Ferris wheel lately? Can you imagine the flying feeling as you are pulled up to the top and then moved down to the bottom quickly again?

Today a Ferris wheel is usually 40 to 60 feet tall. That seems very high when you are on the top looking down. But the first Ferris wheel was 264 feet high- taller than a twenty-story building! Can you imagine the view from the top of that?

The first Ferris wheel was built for the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. The people who planned the fair were looking for an attraction that would bring people to Chicago. George Ferris handed a drawing of a giant wheel that people could ride on. At first everyone laughed at his strange idea. But Mr Ferris did not give up, and finally the idea was accepted. The ride opened in June of 1893.

Today's Ferris wheels have 12 to 16 seats, which each carry 2 or 3 people. But that first one had 36 enclosed cars, each holding 60 passengers. When filled, it carried 2,160 people. During that summer in Chicago, about 1.5 million people rode the Ferris wheel.

After the fair, the ride was moved to a nearby amusement park built especially to show off the wheel. In 1904, it was moved again一to St. Louis for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. After the fair there, the wheel stood unused. In 1906, it was finally sold to a company for scrap metal(废金属).

Luckily a Chicago bridge builder, W.E. Sullivan, figured out how to make a smaller Ferris wheel that could easily be taken apart and put together. In 1906, he started the company that still makes many of the Ferris wheels used today.

But, whenever you ride one, remember that it all began with George Ferris's strange idea!
