John went to spend his summer holiday in China with his parents last year. They visited some famous cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, Kunming and Shanghai. In Beijing he visited the Great Wall, Tian'anmen Square and the Palace Museum. They also went to the zoos and the parks. The weather was fine and cool. They had a good time in the parks. They also took lots of photos there. In Guangzhou, they visited some museums. They were very interesting but kind of crowded. In Kunming the weather is never too hot in summer. They visited the Stone Forest, the Golden Temple and EXPO Garden. They climbed the Xishan Mountain. In Shanghai they went to the beach and had great fun playing in the water.

    “It's very interesting to visit China and I learned a lot about Chinese history,” John said. “If I have another chance, I'll come back to China again.”

    Mr. and Mrs. Green come from Australia. They are in Beijing now. Mr. Green is a teacher in a high school.

    He teaches English. He likes reading and running. He isn't good at cooking. His son. Jim, is a student. He is in the school football team. He likes playing football very much. He is the best football player in his class. He likes school too. He does his homework every day. Mrs. Green is a teacher, too. She can speak a little Chinese. She likes Chinese food. She doesn't like doing housework at all. But she likes cooking. They all like China very much.

    Davy wants to join the pet (宠物) club of his school, but he doesn't have a pet. What can he take to the club? It isn't easy for him to find a pet. One day, he sees a caterpillar (毛毛虫) in front of the classroom. It's small and green. Davy loves the caterpillar very much. "I will call you Caty，" says Davy. Davy takes his caterpillar to the pet club. Some children are talking about their pets.

    "My dog can swim," says Bob.

    "My cat can dance," says Jane.

    "My bird (鸟) can sing with me," says Ray.

    "My caterpillar can walk," says Davy.

    But he can't find Caty. He looks for it everywhere. Where does Caty go? Davy doesn't look very happy. One day, he plays with his friends in the school. A butterfly (蝴蝶) stands on his head. Oh, it is Caty and it is back. It's now a butterfly.

    A young man with a large bag on his back came far away for a master (大师). He said "Master, I'm so lonely and so painful that the long trip makes me tired out, my shoes worn-out, my feet cut, and my hands also injured an bleeding .... Why can't I find the sun in the heart?"

    The master asked, "What do you put in you large bag?"

    The young man said, "It is very important to me, inside it including the pain each time I fall, the tears each time I'm hurt, the trouble each time I feel lonely ... Depending on it, I can come to you here."

    So the master took the young man to the river which they crossed in a boat. On the other side of the river, the master said, "Hurry on your journey carrying the boat!"

    "What, carrying the boat?" the young man was surprised, "it is so heavy. How can I carry it?"

    "Yes, my son, you can't carry it," the master just smiled and said, "when you cross the river, the boat is useful. But after crossing it, you will put down the boat and hurry on, If not, it will become a burden (负担). Pain, loneliness and tears—all these are useful to life. They can improve life, but if you don't forget them all the time, they will become the burden in life. Put it down! My son, life can't bear(承受) a heavy burden," The young man put down his bag and hurried on. He walked easily and happily, and much faster than before.
