Mrs. West lives in Hangzhou. We know that Hangzhou is very hot in summer.1 , many people don't want to go out after 2  . But Mrs. West has to  3  her father at the bus stop in such a hot afternoon.

    Her father, Harry, is sixty years old. He lives in a small town. These days he doesn't feel well. So Mrs. West4 him and asks him to come to see a 5 in the hospital in the city. Because she thinks the hospital there may be6 for him.

    Now she 7  on the way to the bus stop. There 8  no trees and she feels very hot. But she's too fat and can't walk fast（快）. She walks and walks. Suddenly she finds a boy walking behind her. She gets9 .

    "Why are you walking behind me, boy?" she asks angrily.

    As we all know that terrible day on September 11, 2001. I look back on1I was doing during those moments. And I2, very clearly（清楚地）, that I was in my3driving to work.

    When the first plane hit（撞击）the World Trade Center, I was4the radio, and the news came on.  The5thing that came to my mind was it was just a（n）6.

    As I got to the office, I7the TV. And when we were talking, the second airplane hit. We8believe it. What was9?

    We went on watching those10coming from the TV. It was clear that we were under attack（袭击）.

    What a morning! We all11the office; we all went to one of the workers' home nearby. 12we went on watching TV news, the president（总统）speaking the13pictures of the buildings, and so on.  Then the buildings started to14, one by one. We knew things were going to be very15from then on; I had a bad feeling about the future.

    I can still remember the first day when I met my best friend Lisa. I hid（藏）behind my mother and she hid behind her grandmother, 1to look at each other. But soon, we started playing with each other. None of my new friends liked her as much as I did2 they knew she had" family problems". However, we always had great fun together. It was last year that I noticed the problem. I guessed she needed3there for her. Well, she made a new"best friend" and4did I. Then I didn't know why, but she started cutting herself！She had to go to a5during the day. I was very6at first, but later we got in touch, I wanted to be there for her and I knew I still cared about her like a sister. Yesterday she came to me and said, "I never knew7a best friend was until you were the only person that would stop me8; the only person that ever made me feel 9about myself and my problems. You didn't even know you were helping me. "We both cried. So10a friend needs you, and you care for him or her, you can be friends forever（永远）.

    Two brothers worked together on a farm. One was married and had five children. He had a large 1. The other had no wife yet. Although they lived in different houses. They shared 2 they got from their farm.

    One day, the single(单身的)brother said to himself, "It's not 3 that we share all the rice. I'm 4 and I need less than my brother." So, every night he took a bag of rice from his store-room and 5 the field between their houses, putting it into his brother's store-room.     When I was in the seventh grade, I volunteered about thirty to forty hours a week during the summer at a local hospital in my town. Most of the time I spent there was with Mr. Gillespie. He never had any1, and nobody seemed to care about his condition. I spent many days there     holding his hand and talking to him, helping with anything that needed to be done. He became a close friend of mine, even though he replied to me with only a very 2moving of his fingers. Mr. Gillespie was still in a coma(昏迷).

    I left for a week to vacation with my parents, and when I 3 back, Mr. Gillespie had gone. I didn't have the courage to ask any of the nurses where he was, for fear they might tell me he had died.

    Several years passed. One day, when I was at the gas station, I noticed a familiar face. When I realized who it was, my eyes filled with 4. He was alive! I asked him if his name was Mr. Gillespie, and if he had been in a coma about five years ago. With a(an) 5 look on his face, he replied, "Yes". I explained how I knew him, and that I had spent many hours talking with him in the hospital. With tears in his eyes, he gave me the warmest hug (拥抱)I had ever 6.

    He began to tell me how, as he lay there in a coma, he could 7 me talking to him and could feel me holding his hand the whole time. He thought it was an angel, not a person, who was there with him. Mr. Gillespie firmly 8 that it was my voice and touch that had kept him alive.

    Then he told me what happened to him to put him in the coma. We both cried for a while and exchanged a hug, said good-bye and went our separate 9ways.

    Although I haven't seen him since then, he fills my heart with joy every day. I know that I made a difference between his life and his death. More 10, I will never forget him and what he did for me: he made me an angel.
