    China is my motherland. It lies in the east of Asia.

    The official language in China is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （China）. But there are lots of different dialects（方言）in different areas. China's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} is more than 1.3 billion. And the population in the east is much {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （big）than in the west. The weather in China is wetter and warmer in the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and drier and colder in the north.

    There are lots of places of interest in China, such {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the West Lake and so on. They have been famous {#blank#}6{#/blank#} many years.

    China is an old country with about 5000 {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （year） history. There are four important {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （invent）in Chinese history-paper printing, compass（指南针）, explosive（火药）and china.

    In the past twenty years, great changes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （take）place both in cities and in the countryside. With the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （develop）of science and technology, China's tomorrow will be much better.

    Exam time! Most kids don't like exams, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} we can't live without them. They play an important role in our lives.

    Exams are not all the same. There are {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  kinds. One kind tests our knowledge and skills. The other kind helps find excellent students in different fields. For example, universities {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (use) it to choose students.

    At middle school, exams are about answering {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (question) on paper. At university, doing an experiment or even {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (draw) a picture can also be exams.

In Australia, middle school students need to use {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they have learnt in class to make speeches. Sometimes, teamwork is part of an exam.

    So exams are our lifetime "friends". Be nice and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (patient) with them. They {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(help) to make US better than before.
