Little Habits Make a Big Difference

Everything around us is changing at amazing speed, it seems ̶ but some things will always remain the same. Some of our daily habits have the power to always give us happiness and lead us toward success. Here are some little habits that can make a big difference:

Many studies have linked early rising with success. An early morning wake-up carries benefits including better planning and anticipation (预料) of problems, and more time to do the things that make you happy.

Happiness comes to those who are curious.

As long as you live, there will always be something to learn, and as long as you follow your heart and your passions, you won't miss out on learning.

Believe in yourself and all that you are.

Confidence is the key to success—the thing that lets you look at the past without regret, stay grounded in the present, and prepare for the future without fear.

A day well spent gets you a good night sleep.

Enough sleep makes you feel healthier and happier, and it's more than lifting up your mood or removing exhaustion. Adequate sleep is a key part of your health and inner happiness.

It doesn't take a huge effort to make a significant change in your life—using one or two tiny habits may be all you need. Get started today and you'll soon be experiencing the rewards.

Sleep and dreams have interested people for centuries. Scientists are learning more about sleep, but they still know very little about why we dream.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} First, we have most of our dreams during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. At this time, the brain is very active. Second, everyone dreams, even if we can't remember doing so when we awake. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} While we are asleep, it works more slowly and sometimes puts our thoughts and memories together in strange ways.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Some believe that our dreams are relevant to thoughts and feelings that we experience while we are awake. Many dreams researchers think that a dream about death, for example, is really about an important life change. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} A dream about teeth—especially broken or loose ones-may suggest stress or fear. Dreams in which you are flying often represent freedom or escape.

   Researchers think people in our dreams can tell us something about ourselves. If the person in the dream was yelling, for example, maybe you are angry. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

There is still a lot about dreaming that we do not understand. By learning more about our dreams, we may learn more about ourselves.

    A. Dreams may be more important than sleep.

    B. Scientists do not know for certain why we dream.

    C. If he or she was scared then maybe you are terrified of something.

    D. Modern research can tell us some important things about dreams.

    E. There are three things you should pay attention to have a sweet dream.

    F. Finally, a part of our brain helps us to understand daily experience we have.

    G. Dreams about telephones are thought to be about giving or receiving messages.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} If you are growing tomatoes in your backyard for sale you are producing for the market. You might sell some to your neighbor and some to the local manager of the supermarket. But in either case, you are producing for the market. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} If people stop buying tomatoes, you will stop producing them.

If you take care of a sick person to earn money, you are producing for the market. If your father is a steel worker or a truck driver or a doctor or a grocer, he is producing goods or service for the market.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} You may spend money in stores, supermarkets, gas stations and restaurants. Still you are buying from the market. When the local grocer hires you to drive the delivery truck, he is buying your labor in the labor market.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} But for each person or business that is making and selling something, it is very concrete(具体的). If nobody buys your tomatoes, it won't be long before you get the message. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} It is telling you that you are using energies and resources in doing something the market doesn't want you to do.

A new report says plastics are responsible for $13 billion in damage to the oceans and the undersea environment. The findings were announced recently at a United Nations conference.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

Plastic thrown away carelessly makes its way into rivers and other waterways.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. After a while, it collects in the sea. And plastic never goes away. Plastic is not biodegradable—destroyed by bacteria or natural processes. Instead, it just breaks up into smaller pieces over time.     {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Human beings cause pollution and they can take steps to stop it. They can use fewer single use product containers and throw plastics away correctly. Plastic recycling programs also works—where old bottles and other plastics are collected, broken down and used to make new products. We could reuse bottles in our households many times if we wish to, rather than end it after the first use. We could, when we get rid of that plastic, recycle it and reuse it, which replaces the need for raw materials.

The report also calls on companies to improve methods for using plastics.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. And it calls for information about the way plastic is thrown out or removed from use. By putting a new value on plastic, industry has a special reason to clean up the environment.

Four simple ways to stay positive. Trying to stay positive, both in good times and bad, is a great way to improve your quality of life. Try these four methods on a daily basis.

Don't think a lot about negativity.

Of course, staying positive 24 hours a day, seven days a week is a bit difficult. Letting things get to you is normal, and it's actually healthy to cry or express frustrations once in a while.

It's when those negative moments control your life that your emotional balance is at risk. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} However, don't give that sadness another second in your day.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}What you put into your body directly affects how you feel on the outside. Fill yourself with good, healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and limit snacking. Exercise is equally of great importance. Take a few days out of your week for at least a half an hour of activity, and try to stick to a routine. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Be kind to others.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Making someone's day a bit brighter not only puts a smile on his or her face, but also yours as well. Remember to smile and treat each person with pity and respect. Good deeds are contagious (传染的), and your positive attitude may spread among others.

Take it one day at a time.

Being positive isn't an instant thing. It's a steady effort that we follow every hour of every day. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Instead, focus on living in the moment and doing what you can to make each moment better.

A. Eat healthy and stay fit.

B. Take your lunch breaks outside.

C. Don't worry about what the future may bring.

D. Gratefulness helps you appreciate life in bad times.

E. Good feelings come from acts of kindness and selflessness.
