The Storm Brought People Closer Together

    Ben could hear strong winds outside  (he) home in Alabama. Black clouds  (be) making the sky very dark. The news on TV reported that a  (heavily) rainstorm was in the area.

    Ben's dad was putting  (piece) of wood over the windows. His mother  (put) some candles and matches on the table. Ben was  (help) his mom make dinner when the rain  (begin) to beat heavily against the windows. After dinner, they tried to play a card game, but it was hard to have fun with a serious storm happening outside.

    Ben fell  (sleep) when the wind was dying down. When he woke up, the sun was rising. He found the neighborhood was in a mess. Fallen trees,  (break) windows and rubbish were everywhere. They helped clean up the neighborhood. Although the storm broke   (much) things apart, it brought families and neighbors closer together.
