    The following three students are writing letters to the school office.

    Our lunchtime is short. Many of us have some schoolwork to do after lunch. But if we don't get a good rest, we can't have enough(足够的) energy for the afternoon. So we want to have more time to take a nap after lunch.

Wang Yang (boy, 13)

    Food in our dining hall is not nice at all. There is always pork, tofu and potatoes. The soup is never hot. I like pork, tofu and potatoes. But why do we have them every day? And why can't we have hot soup?

Wu Xiaofang (girl, 13)

    All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! We want more time for sports, but there are only thirty minutes for us to do sports every day. I think school should finish before 4 pm every day and then we can go to the playground to do sports.

Dai Huimin (boy, 14)

    I'm Mike. I like school because I can learn many things at school. We have four classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon. I like weekends, too. We don't go to school on Saturdays or Sundays. I often play basketball with my friends on Saturday mornings. I wash my clothes on Saturday afternoons. I often do homework on Sunday mornings. And I often go to the park on Sunday afternoons.

    This is Sam's family. He's doing his homework. His sister is eating a cake. His mother is watching TV. His father is reading a book. His grandmother is watering the flowers.

    Mr. Brown has a son and a daughter. They live near the mountain. They are very poor. They have got little money. They buy some seeds. They plant rice, beans, cabbage and carrots in the fields. They water their plants. Their plants grow well. They are very happy.

    Some big birds come. They eat the beans. They eat the rice. They eat the cabbage and the carrots. Mr. Brown is not happy. He drives the birds away. He puts a nest on the ground. He catches some birds. The birds are afraid now. They don't want to eat Mr. Brown's fields now.

In autumn, Mr. Brown has a lot of rice, beans, cabbage and carrots. He's happy again. The Browns aren't poor now.
