“Thank you” is widely{#blank#}1{#/blank#}in a modern society. It is a very good manner. You should say “Thank you”{#blank#}2{#/blank#}others help you or say something kind to you. For example, when someone{#blank#}3{#/blank#}the door for you, when someone says you have done your work well, when someone says you have{#blank#}4{#/blank#}a nice shirt, or your city{#blank#}5{#/blank#}very beautiful, you should say “Thank you”. “Thank you”is used not only between friends,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}between parents and children, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives.

    “Excuse me”is{#blank#}7{#/blank#}short polite usage. We use it the same as “Thank you”. When you hear someone say so behind you, you'll get to know that somebody wants to walk past you without{#blank#}8{#/blank#}you. It is not polite to interrupt (打断) others while they are{#blank#}9{#/blank#}. If you want to have a word with one of them, please say “Excuse me”{#blank#}10{#/blank#}, and then begin to talk. You should also do so when you want to cough or make any unpleasant noise before others. Let's say “Thank you” and “Excuse me” on the right occasion.

    A kind of little cars may some day take the place of today's big ones. People will like this kind of small cars more and more. The car is as small as a bike but can {#blank#}1{#/blank#} two people in it. Everybody can drive it, just like riding a bike.     The cars of the future will be fine for {#blank#}7{#/blank#} around a city, but they will not be useful for a long trip.

    This kind of cars can save a lot of gasoline( 汽油 ). They will go 450 kilometers {#blank#}8{#/blank#} needing to stop for more gasoline.

    If big cars are still used along with the small {#blank#}9{#/blank#} , two sets of roads will be needed in the future. Some roads will be needed for the big, faster cars and other roads will be needed for the small, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} cars.

    Everyone loves to talk to a polite person, but sometimes it is difficult to be polite to others.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}you want to be a polite person, the following advice might help you.

    Keep a smile.

    I don't know why we always {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to smile in front of others. There are even people who {#blank#}3{#/blank#} say hello to others with a smile. You won't {#blank#}4{#/blank#} humble (卑微的) if you smile first when you meet someone. A sweet smile is the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} way to show your kindness.

    Say "sorry", "please" and "thank you".

    "Sorry" ,"please" and "thank you" are the most ignored (被忽略的) words. When you need someone's {#blank#}6{#/blank#} , do say "please" to him. If someone has helped you, don't forget to say "thank you". If you have done something {#blank#}7{#/blank#}, accept it and say "sorry". These simple words could show {#blank#}8{#/blank#} polite you are.

Avoid arguments (避免争论)

    If you don't agree with others on something, you'd better speak softly. Listen to others carefully and try to understand{#blank#}9{#/blank#}. If the person that you're speaking to is getting rude, keep quiet for a few seconds. Then he will {#blank#}10{#/blank#} that you are not interested in arguments.
